Daikokuya is the REAL deal.
Thank you to Mel Tommy ktoro
From the second we walked in, the staff greeted us like we were family. Top-tier customer service — attentive, fast, and they got our order right the first time. No long wait, no confusion… just straight excellence.
And the FOOD? Absolutely out of this world. The flavors hit so hard it felt like we were sitting in Japan. Rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, everything balanced to perfection. Straight killer taste.
My wife and I are not new to ramen — we’ve been all over SoCal trying spot after spot every weekend in LA. Places are usually a one-and-done… or they earn regular status.
Daikokuya just became HOME for ramen.
Easy 10 stars. If you’re reading this and love real ramen — stop thinking and go. You’ll thank me later.

Meh! There are abundance of ramen places in LA and most of them are very underrated. This is the 2nd Daikokuya location we tried and it was nothing more than mediocre for the review is holds. Tonkotsu ramen was alright, broth was decent, noodles were told to be thin but they weren’t, too much green onions and sprouts that took over the taste of noodles, pork chaus was thin like a dog’s tongue and taste wise it was tasteless, dry, and chewy. Vegan ramen was also alright. We also got chicken fried rice that also tasted just ok. We surely filled our belly, but not heart. We will not be going back. Hironori, shin shen gumi and other ramen places in Torrance and Gardena are much much better.
Service was ok. They only had 1 server for evening time.

I used to like it here a few years ago. Now it’s just a disappointment. the ramen is just so mediocre now. And look at this egg. We got several ramens and the eggs are all overcooked and bland. Also, You have to pay for parking now.

First photo is the steak rice bowl shown on Instacart app. The 2nd photo is what we actually got. The presentation is no good and where are the radish paste and shiso?

Don’t get the salmon sashimi bowl. It tastes alright, but they give a measly 5oz of salmon with a huge bowl of rice. With a proper salmon/rice ratio per bite, 5oz of salmon is good for like 1/5 of the rice they give. It felt like I was eating 95% rice with each tiny nibble of salmon and I still ended up finishing my salmon with a bunch of leftover rice.
At least include some salmon roe or tamago or something, please. Nijiya has better for half the price and they’re not even a restaurant.
The interior design is cool, though.
(I know it’s a standard of 5oz bc I asked the waiter why there was so little salmon)

I love Daikokuya! The service is fantastic, the staff is super attentive, and despite the small space, the ambiance is cozy and well-organized. The food is consistently delicious. I’m a big fan of the chicken fried rice and, of course, the ramen. Plus, there’s always parking available, which is a huge bonus!

Under-staffed location, with bland tsukemen, but free parking. When I visited on a Thursday evening, getting a seat and ordering took about 15 minutes, even when there were some empty seats, because only 1 server was handling all the floor work. And tsukemen I ordered had only 2 tiny pieces of chasu, with broth that wasn’t really savory or fatty. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it was just very bland. Ramens I had from Downtown location were much better, but this location has a free 2 hour parking lot, so that’s a plus. Unique decor was nice thou.

It’s basically the Doctor Doom of ramen in the sawtelle ramen universe. It’s not the best at any 1 thing but it is the 2nd best at everything. A real sum is greater than it’s parts kind of place and one of the true holdouts for night owls since 2012. I mean what other restaurants are open in the Westside until 1AM? Not a lot since the pandemic. The spicy miso ramen is as dependable as an old friend and pair that with a Sapporo at the end of a long day and you can kinda catch a glimpse of the simple comforts that bring salarymen to tears

Went here with some friends yesterday and we ordered a bunch of things. Pretty much everything was good, and some items were very good.
Loved the Gyoza – probably the best item we had yesterday. The sausages were very good too.
The fried rice was decent, but didn’t stand out. Thought it was a little drier than I like. The spicy ramen was good! Not particularly spicy though.
Good service. We had a group of 6 and was able to get seated outside in under 20 minutes, at 6:15PM on a Friday.
Inside the restaurant looks like crowded Tokyo streets – thought it was interesting.

The spicy vegan ramen is so freaking delicious and flavorful! I’m not even vegan but it’s my go-to ramen here. The chicken one is alright, nothing stand- out. But the vegan one is topped with alot of tasty veggies. I add the eggs and cabbage and mm mm mm!!!
My only complaint is the door situation. A lot of times they prop it open and boy does it let a cold draft in. It made it quite uncomfortable. We asked for them to close it and they did no problem. But after a while somehow it got propped open again.
