That being said, the staff is exceptionally nice and despite it being busy never made anyone feel rushed. The location is bright and open and very clean for a BBQ place – I know it’s newer but still, the establishment itself is very well run.
The other staff members seemed very pleasant and the food was very good. I think the young lady just lacked training or was getting the training buck wasn’t grasping it completely yet. I’d also prefer receipts that show not just the items ordered but the price breakdown. Weird that their system doesn’t generate a proper receipt.
reasonable for what you get. It’s a must try. Support this newer small family owned business in WC
The visit started with somebody coming to unlock the front door but telling me I still had to wait even though it was after 11:00 when they open because they weren’t sure if they were ready. Okay fine. They were ready by 11:05. The woman who took the order and served the order was tremendously friendly and very helpful, except for the fact it turns out their lunch combos do not come with french fries and we had to pick from stuff that I knew my husband would absolutely hate and I was right.
I asked for the sauce on the side because I was going to take a bite of one of the ribs to see if we would ever return here and I’ve got to tell you it was a huge disappointment even without the sauce. It wasn’t terribly crispy and it was kind of rubbery because of all the fat. The only barbecue I’ve ever enjoyed was outside of Nashville and that was very crispy. Very tender. They were not wet ribs. They were dry ribs. You could put the sauce on the side and they came with whatever of the sides they had. Got to say. I’m not impressed and it is unlikely we will return
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – A True BBQ Gem!
If you’re looking for mouthwatering, soulful BBQ with a family feel, Dad’s BBQ Next Generation is the place to go. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed like family—and the food? Absolutely unforgettable.
The smoked meats are tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Whether it’s the tri-tip, chicken or ribs every bite tastes like it’s been perfected over generations. The sauces are house-made and hit just the right balance of sweet, smoky, and spicy.
Don’t miss the sides—especially the mac and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread. They’re not just fillers; they’re part of what makes this place special. Every dish feels made with heart and tradition.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a modern twist that still honors the roots of true BBQ. It’s clear the “Next Generation” is carrying on the legacy with pride and passion.
Great service, generous portions, and authentic flavors—Dad’s BBQ Next Generation isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Highly recommend for anyone who loves real, honest BBQ done right.
I went with the tri-tip/green beans w/hot sauce and my Dad, the ribs/potato salad w/ medium sauce.
The food was excellent with a decent portion of meat (8-10oz) and sides (4oz.). The hot sauce was delicious, could have been hotter in my opinion but I get it, for most the medium sauce is fine.
The decor was pretty sparse, modern, and dark. Lots of tables for 2 and only five 4 seaters. The service was very friendly and Pops and I had a great lunch!
The special is where it’s at, $15 is great bang for your buck because if it’s the same portion size at $25 during off hours then thats a little much.
Anyway, I ordered the dinner entree which came with two sides, I got the chicken with the medium sauce, Mac and cheese and the green beans, and a sweet tea.
I have to be honest that I was sorely disappointed with the quality of the food. I’ll start with the Mac and cheese which was decent, but nothing to write home about. It was seasoned properly, but it seems to have been made hours ago and it was quite stodgy. The green beans were, well frankly they tasted like they came from a can. Consistency was soft and mushy and just not pleasant at all. The sweet tea was pretty good though, that was a proper sweet tea, I really enjoyed it.
Lastly, and most disappointing was the chicken. It comes with a good amount (should be since this costs $30+) which included a drumstick a thigh and two pieces of breast (I think) all with bone and skin. The chicken was definitely fall off the bone but it was very dry, the saving grace was the sauce, which made the chicken edible. What’s most sad is that it did not taste smoked at all or even well seasoned. I’m not sure if it was marinated at all or just cooked and then smothered in sauce.
For the price, I was not very happy with the quality of the food, and probably won’t be coming back in the future
