Da Toscano is such a gem. The atmosphere is warm and inviting — cozy but still lively — the kind of place where you immediately relax and know you’re in for a good evening.

The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. Service felt effortless and welcoming.

The food was outstanding. The baked oysters were absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. And the duck pappardelle was a true standout: tender, deeply savory, and beautifully executed. Every dish felt thoughtful and satisfying.

A spot we’ll definitely be coming back to.

Michael is such an impressive chef, and I was hyped to try this restaurant after having Porchetta Shop in Charleston – it far exceeded my high expectations. I haven’t had pasta that got me this excited since I was in Rome, and at da Toscano we shared two pasta dishes that were a perfect 10/10 – no notes. On top of that the focaccia appetizer and pistachio tres leches were outstanding, and the service was warm and friendly. My wife and I were grateful to be able to celebrate our upcoming anniversary here and will likely visit again next time we’re in NYC.

The artichoke salad is excellent and definitely worth trying. The octopus carpaccio was very tasty. The sea bass sauce was presented very well. The service was friendly, but the atmosphere was a bit cold. I would definitely recommend it.

I spontaneously walked in today, not knowing what to expect. It ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve had with Italian. The server’s recommendations were on point and just right. The PB&J bombolone was interesting but the J was too strong for me so it overshadowed the main. Nonetheless, it was good. The tortellini was surprising way above my expecation and paired very well with the duck breast. That first bite of the duck breast with all the ingredients sent me. Everything harmonized so well and each bite tasted new in a good way. Look at the picture, it was a consumable art. The price for this quality in NYC is very fair. Simply astounding, I can’t wait to come back and try their other dishes.

Okay this spot is crazy good. The duck breast main with the plum sauce was my favorite. The pastas were amazing too. The black tagliatelle and the pappardelle were also very memorable. Gotta say that the quantities were great too, so you will be full. Super friendly staff too. A strong recommend for sure.

Pasta dishes lean casual mom & pops at upscale prices. Some dishes had noticably too much lemon juice added. Drink menu was promising but it not deliver at all; either good ingredients got masked by overpowering flavored syrups or they just lacked balance.

I enjoyed the duck and the apple cake.

Passable.

da Toscano exceeded our expectations for a genuinely good, non touristy Italian restaurant in NYC.

The setting feels intimate and warm, and the service was top notch. It genuinely felt like our waiter was dedicated just to our table, attentive without ever being intrusive.

The food was outstanding. We started with the oysters, which were excellent, and the mushroom stracciatella, which was good though not the absolute standout of the night.

Where the restaurant truly shines is the pasta. Both dishes were phenomenal. The pappardelle with duck was unforgettable. The duck was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth, and the agnolotti was just as impressive.

Drinks were also very well done. A bit on the stronger side, but thoughtfully balanced and paired beautifully with the food.

Overall, a fantastic experience. Authentic, refined, and absolutely worth going back for.
