This place is amazing! From the food to the service and atmosphere. It’s very warm and inviting inside, wood paneling and paintings on the walls. Cozy and definitely feels like an old school Italian restaurant. Servers are welcoming and super friendly. Attentive but not too attentive. We made a reservation by calling, it was busy but there were still a few tables empty on a Saturday night. The bartender greeted us with a big smile. Honestly this place should be busier it’s much better than the other Italian restaurants in town.
We started off with calamari. $20. Perfect texture, and flavor. Not too salty, and not chewy at all. It was delicious. I got chicken martini off the specials menu, and it was two thin sliced chicken breasts in a lemon caper sauce with tomatoes and artichokes. It was exactly what I wanted and the chicken was soft, moist and delicious. It’s a little pricey for the portion I think it was $34 but it wasn’t the biggest plate of food. My husband got a pasta dish that he loved, it was homemade stuffed pasta with spinach and cheese. The menu had a lot of creative dishes on there, not all typical Italian dishes you would normally find. Dinner comes with fried polenta and carrots and broccoli which is a nice touch. There is another Italian restaurant in Bayonne that does that, I haven’t seen that done before I moved here. I do like it! It’s nice that a side like that is complimentary. And the bread is complimentary as well, it’s a big baguette and it was super soft and flavorful but crunchy on the outside, very good for free bread!
I also liked how they had two sets of forks so you didn’t have to keep your appetizer fork for dinner. They also box the food up in the back so you don’t have to do it yourself. Excellent service. I would definitely come back here again.

For many years now, this has been our go to restaurant in Bayonne for excellent southern Italian food. I regularly have the fegatini ( chicken livers) balsamico as an appetizer or the fegatini Venezia as a main course. Last Saturday l had the linguine fruiti di mare, and it was wonderful. The seafood was tender and delicious and the pasta was perfectly al dente. It’s also the little things- great bread, tasty veggies and the croquettes? Truly delicious.
The service is always warm and knowledgeable. Romulo who acts as maitre d’ and bartender is the perfect host and sets the tone for the rest of the staff. Go and enjoy this great neighborhood place!

This place has the potential to be great. It needs a bit of a pick me up, the food and the atmosphere. The servers were pretty good. I would come back and hope to see some improvement. This was only my first time. I might go back just to show my family. I do want to support our local businesses.

We went and took out tiramisu, creme brûlée and chocolate fudge. They were yummy and not too sugary but they were bit pricey because of that i’m giving 3 stars

Came by here for dinner because cafe bello was packed. Didn’t like the the menu items so the waiter recommended he would make a salad and salmon entree which weren’t on the menu to our liking. Well that came with a price and he charged me $35 for a salmon with some jarred sweet sauce dumped all over it and $17 for a salad with barely any dressing or toppings. I looked at the regular menu and noticed the fish entrees were $28 and salads were around $13. So why $35 and $17 charge ? The salad was very dry and bland and not worth the $17 at all. He decided to charge wtvr he wanted because it wasn’t on the menu. And the desserts were terrible. Tiramisu tasted old and stale I assure you he lied and said it was homemade and it actually wasn’t and the crème brûlée tasted like clotted cream with no flavor.
BUT….
what was more disturbing is how the waiter consistently made me feel so uncomfortable and kept trying to push me atleast 10x to drink some alcohol and mind you I’m with 3 small kids. He said no he said cmon you need to. He needs to get fired for his unprofessionalism. he was a Spanish complexion guy.. Worst Italian place I ever been to. I only give it one star for the vintage decor.
