Wow! This spot absolutely delivers—literally and figuratively. Every dish bursts with flavor, and the staff brings energy and warmth that makes the experience unforgettable. I can’t wait to return when I’m back in Delaware; it’s one of those places that sticks in your mind (and taste buds!). Keep up the amazing work—this is how a local favorite is made!

Ordered for the first time tonight as an out of town visitor, and waited over an hour for my food to come. When it did finally arrives it was cold and the tots tasted like they’ve been sitting out for an hour or more. They were so dry! Not to mention I called multiple times prior to confirm my order, but no one answered the phone. Long wait and horrible food. I had nothing in my calzones just bread and partial cheese. Wouldn’t recommend. Highly dissatisfied and distasteful. I usually don’t write reviews but I had time today. They’re not answering the phone and I feel as though I threw money down the drain. Don’t waste your time or money.

I have been to multiple cookie shops and D.P doughs chocolate chip cookies are the best i’ve ever tried. The calzones are delicious as well. Also staff was very welcoming. Had a great experience! Definitely coming again.

Took my family to DP Dough because my wife and I haven’t had it in over 10 years. Still tastes exactly as we remember and our kids enjoyed their new favorite calzone spot!

We have friends in Newark DE and them and their daughter are fans of DP Dough. We used to order it and come grab it every time we visited. We did this for years.

We went in Friday night (4/25) and could not believe the Calzones are now $9.99 !!! We all walked out and went to Little Teriyaki up the road and ate there instead.

Also, where are all your employees?? You used to have an employee up front and one or two in the back and one or two delivery drivers. How do you operate with barely any employees?

I read some of your other reviews and your responses. Look, I have friends in the food business and used to own a restaurant myself. In addition, my brother works in commercial real estate. Listen, I get it. Rising food costs. The rise of Delaware minimum wage. Then your landlord, I am sure, raising your lease. I get it. I get it, I get it. Believe me. Out of everyone else who complains, I do get it. However, you sell CALZONES. How much do you feel customers are willing to pay for your small Calzones? You are literally shooting yourself in the foot here.

It already sounds like you are having cash flow problems and I am really sorry about that. This type of business is HARD. However, you really have to get that marketing out there. You have personal expenses too, I get that too. However, your business is NOT sustainable at $9.99 per calzone. It is just not.

Myself and my friend’s family and their daughter will not be returning unless you lower your prices, which I know never happens in this type of business. It is not about how much money customers have. it is about how much customers are willing to pay for a calzone. I am trying very hard to emphasize that I understand what you are going through but you need to understand how much the market will handle here.

In August, when UD comes back, $7.50 calzones (not $7.49), heavily marketed, would bring you business again, and keep you in business if you keep it there. I would also reinvest in having your own delivery drivers and stop using UberEats and the other apps. They charge too much. I know workers comp and payroll can be an expense but why give the app companies 30%+ ?

That is my advice to you. If your margins can’t do that, it is time to sell the business. Ten dollars for a calzone is what is hurting you right now. I know I will not pay ten dollars for a calzone from DP Dough and you need to consider I am not the only one here. I am one of the few that is giving you the feedback. Imagine the past customers that are not ordering that are not giving you the feedback. The silence of less customers is your most important feedback.

I wish you luck. My friends and I will check back in August to see if you lowered the price. We are happy to come back if you do!

THIS PLACE IS NOT GOING TO BE OPEN MUCH LONGER.

Stopped in around 4:30pm on Monday 03/31/2025 . The door has a bell when you walk in. I walk in and no one at the counter. I wait over 5 minutes. No one except one customer waiting in the waiting area. I see one employee in a blue shirt in the back, with their back facing the front. I wait another two minutes. Nothing. So I looked at the menu on the counter and called on the phone. Thought maybe I could get their attention that way. It rang and rang and rang. The employee doo-dee-doo kept working amd ignored the phone. It was at that point I decided to vote with my wallet and walk out, never to return.

If the owner reads this, I want to be clear that me and my friends supported your store through the years and through covid. We never ordered online. We always came, in person, to order and pick up. Save you the fees. You now charge $9.99 for one calzone and $10.99 for customs. I was was angry when you kept raising the prices. There is a huge profit margin on calzones and you are getting greedy. You have turned your back on the UD students and surrounding community by pricing yourself to high then, running a skeleton crew and providing bad customer service.

I am just one person but I think I speak for all of your long time customers when we say, we have had enough. No care for the community that keeps youba float. You only care about how much your business makes. Therefore, I will not return and neither will my friends.

I do not ask for much. Reasonable prices and a hello when i walk in the door. Good luck to you.

2 Aug 2022: dinner takeout. Vegetarian calzone. By itself, the food was towards dry and low flavorful end. Bread was fresh. Loved the sauce.

I had an issue with my DoorDash order. DoorDash refused to assign a delivery driver for my order. I called D.P. dough and despite it being past 2 am, they delivered the order to me personally.

I accidentally ordered from this company from another state. I realized my mistake and called seconds later to both this store and uber eats. Both told me they were ok with charging me 20 for food I counted receive. I did tell the manager I was going to leave a bad review unless he fixed it and asked me to have uber eats all again. Once uber eats called they lied. I had to do a charge back and will never use this restaurant or uber eats again. This company has terrible service and I recommend to avoid as they are liars
