Curtains Bar and Restaurant is a part of the Avenel Performing Arts Center located at 150 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001 in Woodbridge Township. Curtains serves an expansive menu featuring apps, salads, burgers, pasta and seafood alongside a full-service bar with a seasonal cocktail menu and weekly specials. On select nights, the restaurant offers live entertainment in the dining area with a wide variety of talented singers and musicians who will enhance your dining experience. As a partner of the theatre, we frequently offer specialty cocktails and prix fixe menus that fit the theme of the show that is being featured, we also serve a weekly brunch every Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-2:30pm.

I have gone to Curtains for brunch and dinner several times, and the food is always very good. But they recently changed the brunch and regular menu. Mostly, everything on the brunch menu now is eggs with something. There’s like two items to choose from that are actually lunch. They took off biscuits and gravy, which was one of my family’s favorite, and it was very good. I will still go there for dinner, but unfortunately, not for brunch anymore. I think they should add a few more lunch choices back for brunch.

This place has gone downhill. Was there to see a band outside had one server for the entire outside, no bus person. The girls worked so hard. I actually felt bad for them. They did a great job. The bartender in the bar was just bad , you waited over 20 minutes for a drink ,you were totally ignored and the area was disgusting. No manager on site!! It was a joke to try to get a drink. And knowing we were there for the evening, my friends were drinking bottled beer @ 5.00 each when we heard from another patron, you could get a bucket of five beers for $15. Why wouldn’t she offer the specials?? It was the most mismanaged confusing, horribly run bar I’ve ever been into ..Food is good again just totally overworked the entire staff and no management at all. Nobody there to oversee anything.. I would not go there for dinner or be returning to pay outrageous prices for a drink and NO service!!

Me and my boyfriend decided to have a date night here and I was able to make last minute reservations. When I arrived the parking was terrible and I couldn’t find their parking lot. I lucked up and found one eventually. When we walked in we were greeted and we had to wait a bit. There were seats by the bar so we decided to sit there. FYI this place doesn’t mandate masks.

Use to love coming here! Not everyone loves Italian Food! New menu AWFUL! No pretzel sticks, no teriyaki salmon, no rib eye steak with salad. Entertainment isn’t the same either! Enjoyed the Rolling Torahs. Bring back old menu! Bartender doesn’t even know how to make a whiskey sour or their signature drink avenel sour!!!!!

I rant and rave about coming here and yea i def dont think i will be coming back here anymore. The service is unbelievably HORRIBLE. One of our plates didnt get cheese like we ordered. Come to find out they ran out of cheese on Father’s day. Also it took 4 times to ask for ketchup which i dont understand the waitress is telling me she has to find a ketchup bottle. (Yes find a ketchup bottle) A place thats suppose to have ketchup on stock and they dont. I asked for the manager 2 times and i was told by the waitress he is busy and can’t come out to speak to me for less than a minute to understand my frustration. Mind you the place of business is barely half packed. The least the manager could have did was come and apologize for the inconvenience.

Place is brand new and very nice and clean. Looks great on the inside. Was someone playing music and he was very talented. We ordered nachos and the mac and cheese bites for appetizers. Nachos were, fine. Lacking on toppings and felt like there were too many chips. Chicken was alot not hot but overall were fine. Mac and cheese bites were good. Nothing amazing but not bad by any stretch. For dinner we ordered Cobb salad and a shrimp po boy. Cobb salad was fine. Came as one large wedge of lettuce that needed to be cut up. Shrimp po boy was delicious. Fries were also good. I would go again. It’s a little pricey for what it is but not killer. Good spot. Bar is small though. Only 12 to 13 seats so be prepared to have to get a table.

The food is normally pretty good but based on the night you go it can sometimes take awhile to come out. Reservations can sometimes be an issue even if you are a regular.

I had date night at Curtains for karaoke and it’s a Beautiful place, Amazing staff. I give it 4 stars because the food need seasons. I ordered Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta and it had no flavor at all. I will go back for the ambiance and hospitality.

For one, the convenience of walking across the street to Curtains is a game changer. Also, my husband and I have enjoyed Curtains. From drinks, to service, and most importantly food. We’ve tried a countless amount of options offered, and they haven’t missed yet. Hats off to the chef. My only negative is that they’re not open every day. Highly recommended.
