Wow, I really don’t know if words can do justice to how great this place was. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were just amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they really wanted to make sure you were having a good time and enjoying your food. The food from the drinks, appetizers, entree, and dessert were fantastic. I have to say this was one of the best mole negro I’ve ever had. The plate was CLEAN when we were done. I’d highly recommend people to give this place a try.

My husband and I stopped here before a concert at North Park Observatory. Our bartender was very friendly and provided great service, fantastic cocktails and a fun experience.
Great selection of Mezcal drinks which are my favorite!
The food was delicious and good sized portions. We shared an aguachile appetizer and the short rib mole plate and we both had just the right amount of food.
Definitely recommend and will be back!

Cocina Del Barrio at Northpark is a new favorite for me! Came here for my birthday and so glad I did. The Mango- Habanero aguachiles are so good but spicy! I do wish they deveined the shrimp a little better, most were, but a few were not. The flavor was really good, the onion, cucumber, and mango sauce is so so tasty I want more already. We also ordered the Salmon en Mole Amarillo for my nieces and they devoured the plate, they were able to provide the mole sauce on the side so that was nice. Lastly, lol, I believe we also orders the Rib Eye A La Parrilla. It came on a board style plate that had a special slot for the steak knives, and little slots for sauces. It had a nopal at the bottom, cooked tomatoes, those long grilled green onions, long carrots, rice shaped like a pyramid, and olive oil with spices and some red sauce I didn’t try cus I was so spiced out from the aguachiles. I ordered a Jalapeño margarita further adding to the fire in my mouth but it was so good! In terms of desert, the crème brulè was so yummy my taste buds had a bday party of their own, we got the churros with ice cream and meanwhile I intially intended on eating half, it was so soft and filled with cream on the inside I quickly went for the other half, smh. Our waiter, Alex, Was polite and attentive making the first time visit extra especial and threw in another dessert on him for the occasion. He promoted their brunch hours making it very likely I will be retuning very soon during those hours. As we were waiting for our food, there was an intoxicated man child sitting directly behind us being verbally aggressive complaining about his food. Staff members handled the situation in a calm, professional manner and basically escorted him out prioritizing the experience of other guests.

We came to Cocina De Barrio to try their plant-based options and were so pleased with everything we ordered. We got the coconut aguachile, memelitas (our favorite) and the albondigas and sat at the bar. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and perfectly seasoned (including a good amount of heat) with excellent sauce work. Good sized portions too. They aren’t just lazily subtracting or swapping ingredients from dishes that would traditionally have meat or dairy as many other restaurants do, they offer vegan takes on authentic dishes that stand out in their own right. We can’t wait to come back and try everything else.

Ive been to the spot in hillcrest so i was expecting the same vibe. Its hard to spot cause they have like a banger still. Parking is hard because its north park on a sunday so hardly any. Food, was good I got a omelet with another order of toast. The service was okay, only because the waiter forgot my coffee. My friends were on their 6 mimosas and I still wasn’t served my regular coffee with cream. I flagged down the waiter to serve, I had wait another 4 mimosas to ask for another coffee and it was one of the buss lady’s that I flagged down. Got me a coffee real quick! After a different server was serving coffee which was great only after you know a while. Im not sure why the hilcrest location seemed more alive?? North Park was like eh its okay.

Shout out to the señora who got my coffee and the pony tail server who remembered me after that. Haha

Great Oaxacan food experience. Chef Flores is clearly passionate about his food and your experience. The dishes we had were unique, full of flavor and presented beautifully as we’re the cocktails. The combinations of food and beverage are very well thought out and distinctly Oaxacan. The staff were attentive, cared for you and your experience, and were unobtrusive. It felt as though they were a family wanting to have you fulfilled with their made-with-love offerings. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere I’d describe as upscale neighborhood. Everything we had was delicious and new even with enjoying a wide variety of Mexican cuisines. We recently had a ‘Quixotic’ experience and Cocina de Barrio puts them to shame in all areas. This is a destination restaurant experience

Everything we had was fantastic – spicy margarita, agua Santa, short ribs en mole, pollo en pipian, and tres leches. I can’t even choose a favorite, so just get it all! The service was also warm and inviting. The vibe inside was elegant but also cozy. We can’t wait to return!
