Traditional Indian cuisine is the draw at this informal restaurant with simple, modern decor.

We did not like the food here. I’ve been to the Curry and More in Oceanside, which I thought was decent. So we decided to try this location. It definitely has a more Indian restaurant feel to it than the Oceanside location so I had higher hopes. We ordered the Frontier Boti Kebab as it was publicized as their “signature”, the coconut chicken curry with a side of jeera aloo and daal and a garlic and basil naan and plain naan.
The signature was not good. As an Indian, I’m used to kebabs being chicken or lamb based, which means that the meat is more tender. A kebab also has smaller pieces. The beef was not tender, in fact, it was very chewy. The marinated spices were kind of non-existent on the beef itself. They were just on the plate and on the veggies, which were delicious tasting by the way. The coconut chicken was decent. The jeera aloo side was the best of the lot, which says a lot about what we thought of the main entrees. The daal was bland.
I think the worst offender however, was the garlic and basil naan. When you think garlic and basil naan, you want to see garlic piece, basil leaves and butter. This naan had garlic powder (blasphemy!), dried basil and zero butter. It was on the harder side and just not good. I love my garlic naans. The more garlic, the better! This one ranks as one of the worst naans I have eaten.
We will not return as we expected more from this visit than what we ultimately got.

Such a hidden gem! Service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. Highly recommend the pea sprout coated calamari. The fruit dipping sauce pairs amazingly well. Everything was made fresh to order. Garlic naan was actually garlicky. Generous portion sizes suitable for sharing.

Curry and More in San Marcos is a culinary gem, offering an exquisite journey through the flavors of India. Their Paneer Makhni is a creamy delight, and the Lamb Shank Nalli Nihari is a succulent masterpiece. The live tandoor adds a sizzling touch to their Tandoori Roti and Naan, creating a perfect accompaniment to their flavorful dishes. To top it off, the Pista Kulfi dessert is nothing short of heavenly, making every visit a memorable feast for the senses. This restaurant truly stands out for its authentic taste, warm ambiance, and a menu that transports you straight to the heart of Indian cuisine.

Absolutely delicious curries! This place is a master of making masterful spice combinations that will leave you wanting more. Considering there is a lack of Indian food on the coast, this place is definitely worth the drive.

Husband and I were just riding around town with our Segway scooters and we found this restaurant. They had plenty of outdoor seating, followed covid protocols, excellent customer service, and delicious array of Indian cuisine!! Our waiter, Obie had a cute British accent and was so friendly. They are apparently very popular even during these tough times. While we were there, we observed so many people drive-up to get their curbside pickup. We will definitely come back!!

Service and atmosphere is excellent. Restaurant is spotless. However the food is just ok. It’s not bad, but it’s not very flavorful. The chefs are clearly not from India and I think that makes a difference.

I crave their korma and green masala like no other! Great naan, tasty drinks and it’s always fast. This place has become a staple in our rotation and we always get more for leftovers. So addictive!

Food was very good. My first time having indian cuisine. I ordered the chicken jaz(something) at a level 5 and man, it still had some kick. We also ordered the curried lamb at a level 5 and it too had some kick. Enough to make your nose run a bit. The portions are large. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. The lentil soup was an unexpected surprise. The cilantro gave so much flavor. I wish i could pronounce or spell some of the items that we got but sorry i cant. The service was great. We went around noon on a weekday. One man took us to the table. When he went to get our drinks, another came and asked if we were ready to order. Then another waiter brought us the bread. There was some major team work going on, someone was always at the table checking in. We didn’t wait a minute for anything.

I had the best Indian food experience here! The lamb biryani was perfectly spiced, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I also tried their masala chai, which was rich, warm, and absolutely delicious. My son ordered garlic naan and chicken tikka masala and he loved every bite. The naan was fluffy with just the right amount of garlic, and the chicken tikka masala had a creamy, flavorful sauce.
From start to finish, every dish was outstanding. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to whenever I’m craving authentic and delicious Indian food.
