Curry Hyuga – Japanese Curry Hyuga

Tender, juicy pork loin lightly crusted in panko. Crispy and creamy potato croquettes. These are just a few toppings that come with our slow-simmered curry.

The chicken karaage curry is the best out of the 3 dishes we ordered. Lightly breaded tender chicken pieces that are full of flavor and juice, they paired really well with the sweet curry sauce. The katsu curry and Teishoku rice plate set are okay and the wiri wiri powder really brings the dishes up a notch! Don’t bother with the corn soup, not worth the 5 bucks.

Good authentic Japanese curry restaurant. Their curry tastes very good. On the table, there are 6 different spices. Very interesting. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The price is reasonable. Highly recommend.

Service-wise everything seemed very efficient. I arrived around 1:00PM on Sunday and put my my party of 2 on the waitlist. The machine said the wait would be at least 20 minutes. However 10 minutes later I received a text saying my table was ready. If you need to call a server there is a buzzer on the table, but they will usually catch you before you even reach for the button.

Well cooked Japanese curry! Made from scratch, vegetable flavored and spice kicks over freshly cooked rice. My choice was to add veggies and hamburger meat topped with cheese, deep umamiful curry sauce is one of a kind. Even though I was born and raised in Tokyo, I can’t recall any curry restaurant that serves such one. Recommended!

The food is very good and very fresh. They have a small menu and they’re obviously known for curry. So we got chicken katsu curry, pork katsu curry and menchi (hamburger) curry. The outside is crunchy and the meat inside is tender and juicy! The curry has a little bit of a kick. The curries come with white rice, shredded cabbage, a scoop of potato salad, pickled ginger, curry and the meat you chose. This is a small restaurant. We have a baby, so it was tight. There was no room for a stroller. We had to put it in the car. The servers come to you when you push a button at the table. They have a portable POS system to take the order and for you to pay. For tables of 6 or more, they add the 18% tip automatically. Writing this as of June 2023, the dishes were $16.50. There is one bathroom and it’s in the back. It can have a line.

Authentic Japanese curry. Pork katsu could’ve been more tender and hot but still tasty nonetheless. Variety of additional spices on the table. Service was efficient. Convenient Yelp digital wait-list and table side contactless payment available. Paid street parking and a lot behind the building.

The Japanese style curry house got my favorite curry and beer combo after work in the area. The seating has its cozy style with the sun light from above. Love the atmosphere!

My favourite Japanese curry in the Bay Area! The chicken katsu is surprisingly tastier than the pork and I’ve consistently gone back for it. The croquettes are also amazing.
