Cool atmosphere, decent food, mediocre service.

Not sure if it’s that they were packed but the service we received starting from the hostess all the way thru the server was just not good. I’d been here once before and it was way better the first time around.

Food was good, definitely recommend the chicken katsu, the butternut squash and kale salad, and the Brussels’ sprouts. Would come back but if service is an issue again, that’ll be my last time here.

Culinary Dropout completely impressed me with how fantastic the food was. Every dish I tried tasted incredible. It is a great place for bigger groups too. We were six people and I noticed even larger tables enjoying themselves. The staff handled everything smoothly and stayed very attentive, which is not easy when there are so many groups around. I was so caught up in good food and good company that I hardly focused on the decor, but the whole evening felt amazing. I am already excited to return soon.

If you are looking for a venue that perfectly balances a high-energy “industrial-cool” vibe with seamless professional service, Culinary Dropout at The Yard on 7th Street is a standout. Having visited both the Scottsdale and Phoenix locations for private and corporate events, I am consistently impressed by their ability to host large groups without losing their signature soulful atmosphere.
Service & Atmosphere
During my most recent visit for a corporate Christmas party, our group of 12 was assigned two dedicated servers. Their diligence was remarkable; they were incredibly friendly and ensured that appetizers were flowing and drinks were never empty. I never once had to hunt someone down for a refill.
The restaurant is expertly designed for multitasking. While our group celebrated, I noticed two other corporate parties and several families with children enjoying the space simultaneously. The layout is primarily an expansive, “indoor-outdoor” hybrid. To keep things comfortable, the patio is outfitted with modern concrete fireplaces and powerful heating lamps. You have your choice of seating, from traditional dining tables to cozy, lounge-style couches.

The food is elevated comfort at its best. My personal favorite is the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue, followed by the Turkey Pastrami Sandwich on a pretzel bun. It is flavorful and filling without being overly heavy; you get a great meal without the “itis,” leaving you with plenty of energy to enjoy the games! The “Yard” area offers Cornhole, Ping-Pong, Shuffleboard, and Foosball, making it perfect for both adults and children.
Above and Beyond Hospitality
The highlight of my visit, however, was how they handled a personal mishap. I accidentally dropped my plate, shattering it and spilling my deviled eggs and sandwich everywhere. I was totally embarrassed, but a server came over immediately to clean it up. They kindly told me, “Do you know how many plates I break a day?” and replaced my entire meal—including the appetizers—completely free of charge.
While the parking lot can be a bit confusing to navigate initially (look for the complimentary valet!), the experience inside is flawless. Culinary Dropout has become one of my favorites; I highly recommend it for corporate events, private parties, a night out with the girls, or quality family time.

Food was amazing and service was great. I had the salmon. I also opted for the mud pie. Which was really good but very rich. The experience and atmosphere was nice but a bit noisy. And the outdoor heaters smelled like propane. But the server quickly came over and turned them off.
All in all it was a great experience. I would definitely go back again. And I don’t blame the restaurant for the outdoor heaters. I think it’s nice that they have those. And the fireplaces they have as well. I think that’s just the nature of having something like that as you will have to deal with stuff like that from time to time. Definitely recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Culinary Dropout! From start to finish, everything was five stars across the board.

The starters were amazing! Packed with flavor, fresh, and perfect for sharing. The entrées were outstanding as well, beautifully prepared and seasoned to perfection. Every plate that came out was a winner, and it’s rare to have everyone at the table rave about their meal, but that’s exactly what happened.

To top it off, we indulged in the monkey bread with ice cream for dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending. Warm, gooey, and delicious. It’s a must-try!

What really stood out was that even our 7- and 8-year-olds were raving about the food, which says a lot! It’s not easy to please both kids and adults at the same time, but Culinary Dropout nailed it.

Great service, fantastic atmosphere, and incredible food. We’ll definitely be back. Planning my next staff team bonding for October here!

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun dining experience with top-notch eats!

It’s was alright. The service was great and we were well taken care of. Bethany took great care of us even though she was very busy.

Drinks – 8/10, they were all pretty good for the price

Atmosphere – 10/10 fun, good music. A bit crowded but to be expected and I don’t knock stars off for that.

Food – 4/10 it was just okay. It wasn’t bad nor inedible. But my burger was well done and a bit dry (ordered medium). The cheese was just basic American cheese but for a $20 burger I was expecting something a bit nicer. My friends got the fish and chips. They said it was good but there were only two very small pieces of fish. Like maybe 5 bites? The ribs were also good but nothing special.

The problem I have is this food was no better than your local Chilis or Red Robin chain but more expensive. I wouldn’t go back for dinner, but I’d happily go back for drinks and some soft pretzels (those WERE 10/10).

Beautiful huge restaurant. Space to eat and hang out. Service was amazing! The food was a little lacking though. We were a party of 10 and only half liked their meals. I probably wouldn’t visit again.

***VALET ONLY. NO SELF PARKING***

They used to have available parking for the restaurant but no more. Valet only. Enter through the alley in the back. Food is consistent although the dinner menu is significantly better than the brunch menu. Cocktails are good. Large bar & outdoor area with heaters. Will be going to a different location from now on due to bitterness about the new parking situation.

The best location in the valley! The free valet is a great added touch and super quick. The vibes are fun and social. The food is amazing. Brussels sprouts were yummy and not too hot. The fish and chips were moist and crispy and the Mongolian short ribs essentially melted in your mouth, amazing. Finishing it all off with their famous monkey bread. I’ll have to come back for happy hour, the bar looks like fun!! Our server and all staff were very attentive and friendly

I was blessed to have lunch today with Jeff at Culinary Dropout on 7th street in Phoenix. The moment I walked in I felt a cohesive dynamic and positive energy. The industrial aesthetics motivated me to pick up a camera and share this place with the community. First, the entire restaurant is an open floor plan and the central dining area feels like you’re dining with family and friends; everyone was delighted to be there, and the chatter, smiles and laughter proved it. The ambient lighting sets a tone that transforms your dining experience to a memorable one. The entire staff works together to make sure everyone leaves satisfied. During my time spent, I noticed from the bartenders to the managers everyone shared in all the responsibilities from start to finish. I was delighted to see the servers and bartenders taking the orders and the managers expedited the meals to table and wished everyone a fine dining experience. The entire process from start to finish worked like a well-oiled machine; never did I hear anyone complain, and everyone left satisfied including us. The folks here at Culinary Dropout deliver a dining experience like no other restaurant does. Next, the food was delicious. We split a Chicken Caesar salad and ordered the Hot Wings. The chicken in the salad was juicy and charred to perfection the entire salad has a zest that bites the inside of your cheeks. The wings were a perfect balance of sweet, tangy and hot. The ice tea was fresh brewed and left me wanting more. I want to have brunch here because they serve Banana Bread French toast. How fabulous does that sound. To the entire staff at Culinary Dropout on 7th street, thank you for a memorable experience. You folks understand the art of service and it shows. A special thank you to Dustin for attending us from start to finish. See you folks soon.
