There are not many places to dine in ex urban northern York County which makes an old school steakhouse like Culhane’s, family owned and operated since 1956, such a diamond in the rough. My fiancée raved about the steak, it was cooked perfectly through end to end. I was less enamored with the seafood trifecta, should have gone with a steak! The Maryland crab soup is definitely worth a try. Our server was friendly and attentive.

12 of us enjoyed Culhanes for a wonderful family get together. Table was ready for our reservation even a bit early. Steaks were delicious. Sides were nice, salads were standard. Our server was lovely, pleasant and never stopped. The basic decor was clean and non distracting. The bill was less than we anticipated. Will go again and preorder any specialty steaks to guarantee they have what our large party may require.

Steak was overcooked and unseasoned which is how they serve all their steaks. Seems odd to me but make sure to ask for it seasoned if that’s what you like. I got the special which was a steak and crab cake. Salad was extremely small but the dressing was excellent.

Very good steakhouse with decent prices. The ribs are out of this world, hands down best ribs ever – juicy, flavorful and fall off the bones. They also have the best MD crab soup I’ve ever had, perfectly seasoned and full of crab meat. The crabcake was also very good and meaty with not a lot of filler. I was not a huge fan of the potato skins because they had cheese sauce vs melted cheese, but I feel like that was personal preference. The steak fries were also not what I expected as they were more of a potato wedge than a steak fry. The lobster was as a little on the dry side. Definitely try the chocolate mousse or house made eclair for dessert, very tasty! I would recommend making reservations if you plan to dine here – we did not but got lucky enough to be able to sit at the bar to eat. The bartender/server was very attentive and nice. I would definitely recommend for a nice lunch or dinner.

Best steaks around by far! And if you want a great deal, you can get a filet mignon, 10 ounces with a crabcake for the same price as a smaller steak. The quality has never gone down and the food is amazing. It does get a little loud in the open dining room, but we prefer the bar side where it’s a little more cozy

Very disappointed. We have been customers for years but I think this was our last visit. Always paid the extra charge for a Greek salad. No more, the salad contained romaine lettuce

The crab cake was very small and missing the moisture that made them so delicious. I chose the Delmonico to accompany my crab cake, very disappointed. Steak was seared hard on the outside, not sizzling. I ordered MR but it was sent out MW. The establishment was not busy and the staff was far from interested in keeping customers happy. They had other things to chat about among their selves. No more, please tell us what has changed so drastically?

We came in 30 mins before 9pm. The place was empty. Turns out the google times for their hours of operations were wrong. However they were able to serve us right before they closed. Sue, our waiter was great. She was very knowledgeable and courteous . The value for the food was excellent. The food came out perfect. The steaks are better than most chain steak houses in the area and better priced. Great value if you are looking for a great dinner. Also the peanut pie was delicious!

Made reservations for party of 13 3 months ago. Called 1 week and 3 days before to triple check all is ready. NOT ready, 35 minutes for water, 45 minutes for beverages, over 2 hours until meals arrived 1 at a time with 10 minutes in between multiple serves, no check backs. I went to the bar for refill of water and tea. No return for adult beverages refills. Food cold and over cooked. No one ate. No one came back to check on food preparedness. Horrible service, food and Very cold room. What happened to you Culhanes?!!! I’ve spoken with several people and they have all said the same, regardless of amount of people. If you do go, sit at the bar! At least you’ll get your beverages ( don’t order the over priced {even in today’s world} food)! INCREDIBLY DISSATISFIED with what was to be a wonderful evening with family! P.S. any previous requests for seating and pre-ordered apps ignored.

Had a larger group, about 16, family Christmas group, about the 5th year we’ve done it here. Only one server assigned to us, she was overwhelmed. So, food was slow, drinks didn’t get refilled, rolls not refilled. Typical short staffed, you get what you get service wise.
Being a steak house your world think the steaks would be perfect. It’s what they do, right? Every steak we got was consistently over done. This is likely due to the “hot” plate they put them on to come to the table – it keeps cooking it. Also, likely due to the group setting and 1 poor server trying to bring all the food at the same time. So, whatever you like, ask for one step more rare to get what your actually want.
Hopefully you will have a better experience. Every year I hope it is better, it is not. The minimum service is good enough. Our group won’t be back next year.

The atmosphere of this “steakhouse” is very cozy however the food and service was horrible. There were only two waitresses waiting on what looked like our large room and a bar. I believe I only got my water refilled once out of the hour and a half that we were there. It took forever to get our food out. We ordered our daughters food with our drinks and that came out pretty quickly. Our food took forever and of course our daughter was done eating by the time we got ours. This is saying a lot because she is a very slow eater. The burgers were subpar. They were dry and didn’t have much taste. I ordered a tenderloin salad as my meal and asked for it to be cooked to medium. The salad was literally lettuce, confetti like carrots, un-ripe tomato half and over done/burnt tenderloin steak. I took a bite of the steak and it was awful. I didn’t eat it and requested it be taken off our bill. They did honor my request. We ate here years ago and weren’t impressed. We figured we would give it another try, and we were very disappointed. No idea how this place has such good reviews! We wanted to love it but never again.
