There is truly not a bad thing on the menu! The staff at CudaCo are always so friendly and knowledgeable about their items, so you will be sure to leave happy.

I always believed this was a sit-down restaurant until I went to try it with some visiting friends. I was pleasantly surprised that you order at the register and can then take a seat wherever you like, indoors or outside, and they will bring your food to you. I also appreciated the free parking lot. Even though there is limited indoor seating, there are plenty of picnic tables outside to sit at on a warm Charleston day. You can also easily ask for your food to go. Even better, you can enjoy a meal and still bring home more seafood to cook at a later date while supporting a local small business. I mean, what is better than that?

They have a great local beer and wine selection that you can purchase and take home. More importantly, their food is out-of-this-world fresh. This tiny spot that is easy to miss on James Island has some of the best seafood out there. My go-to is their coconut rice poke bowl with salmon. I would come here every day if I could!

Oh my gaaaaaa! Our pals recommended this place while we were in Folly and I am SO glad we decided to go here. We got the warm sticky rice bowl with scallops, the seared plate special (flounder) & two of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had. Insane! Such a cool atmosphere and cooler staff.

This fish market is one of the best around the Charleston area. The seafood is incredibly fresh and you can pick out your fish right from the case and have it made into a delicious sandwich, or take it home to cook yourself. Everything tastes like it was just caught that morning.

The poke bowls are amazing, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. They’ve also got a great selection of refrigerated items to grab and go. And if you’re dining in, they serve beer and wine, which makes the whole experience even better.

Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, picking up dinner, or just browsing their daily catch, Cudaco never disappoints. Friendly staff, top-quality seafood, and an easy coastal vibe. Everything you want in a local fish market.

As a group visiting from the north, we had no real experience with how to go about ordering food at a place like this, but the lady at the counter was extremely nice and explained the whole operation. I ended up with the Scallops PO Boy and the scallops just melted in my mouth. Everything in the case looked extremely fresh and I believe everything they claim about quality on the website. There is limited indoor seating, however it wasn’t too smelly from the fish or anything and it was cool on a hot day. Outside they have a small picnic area by a creek that had the most spectacular evening sun view. I highly recommend anyone visiting to check this place out for the fresh and sustainable, casual, and cost effective seafood experience.

First, came the oysters, fresh from the cold, deep waters. Each pearlescent half-shell held a morsel of briny, sweet ocean, to be slurped down with a whisper of lemon and a tiny burst of mignonette. The cool, crisp wine cut through the minerality, brightening the palate for the feast to come.
Next, a crab cake arrived, golden and perfectly seared. It was less cake and more a monument to crab—pure, sweet lump meat, held together by the barest hint of seasoning and a delicate crust. With a fork, the exterior gave way to a warm, moist interior, each flaky strand of crab tasting of summer and salt. The prosecco’s light fruitiness and high acidity were the perfect foil for the rich, buttery crab, cleansing the palate with every sip.
The final act was a fish fry, a glorious mound of crispy, fried fish. The flaky, tender whitefish, encased in a light and crunchy batter, was piping hot and utterly satisfying. A squeeze of lemon and a dash of tartar sauce completed the plate. The bubbles of the prosecco, still dancing on the tongue, lifted the richness of the fried food, making each bite feel as fresh as the first. It was a meal of simple pleasures, executed with flawless perfection, and elevated by the celebratory sparkle of the wine.

CudaCo Seafood House is an absolute hidden gem in Charleston!

I’ve been living here for 2.5 years, and I honestly can’t believe this was my very first visit.

The atmosphere has a relaxed, coastal vibe that makes it a great spot to enjoy fresh seafood. I ordered the raw oysters, cooked crab, and fried calamari, and everything was absolutely amazing. The oysters were super fresh with that perfect briny flavor, the crab was tender, sweet, and full of rich taste, and the fried calamari was light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned—not greasy at all. You can really tell they take pride in the freshness and quality of their seafood. It’s rare to find a place that hits all the marks when it comes to flavor, portion, and presentation.

I’m honestly kicking myself for not coming here sooner, but I’ll definitely be back again soon. This is a must-visit for any seafood lover in Charleston—no question about it!

To the person on Reddit who recommended this gem, BLESS YOU.

If you love seafood, this spot is for you. Like, it’s unreal. The fresh seared fish + the mussels with bread so you can dip the perfect spicy curry sauce + the salmon & tuna with coconut rice bowl- all incredible! INCREDIBLE!!!!

Not to mention the service. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Giving the best recommendations & the vibes were top tier, imagine “we want you here, please try this!” ✨

There was inside and outside seating + easy parking.

Will be back, expeditiously.

CudaCo. Seafood House is a must-visit spot for seafood lovers—everything is fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere strikes a great balance between casual and upscale, with friendly staff who clearly know their seafood. Whether you’re ordering oysters, lobster rolls, or one of their daily specials, you can taste the quality in every bite. The raw bar is especially impressive, and the rotating menu keeps things exciting. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving top-notch seafood!

Edit: I appreciate the restaurant’s reply to my message and I believe they deserve a four star rating now.

Original: While the food is excellent, I think the service along with the undisclosed credit card surcharge bring this review to three stars.

To start with the good stuff, the food is an easy, five out of five. I highly recommend the coconut sticky rice bowl with tuna as well as the fried oyster po’boy.

The coconut sticky rice bowl is topped with avocado and spicy, mayo, and on the side you get an absolutely delicious, seaweed salad, a refreshing slaw, and a generous amount of your protein (tuna in my case).

The oyster po’boy is also delicious. Giant, juicy fried oysters are generously stuffed in the sandwich on top of a remoulade and slaw on the bottom. The oysters are super crispy and have a really tasty, briny flavor. The roll is also really soft and toasted well with butter.

Also make sure to check out their specials as they can vary from time to time. Sometimes on Tuesdays, they will do 50% off any oyster dishes, which can include the sandwich.

Now, for the things that I believe, if they change, could easily shoot them up to five stars.

First, the service is very inconsistent. My friends and I placed orders right after each other, and our dishes overlapped as the same dishes, however, their order came out over 20 minutes before my order was ready. While we had identical orders, it definitely was not great to have to wait 20 minutes. Obviously we ate the food as it came out so that it didn’t get cold.

The next issue is that you will not realize they are charging you a credit card surcharge. This surcharge is not disclosed anywhere on their website, menu, or even the POS they use. The only time you know you were charged to surcharge for using a credit card is on your receipt. This should definitely be disclosed both on their website as well as on all of their printed menus.

Lastly, it would be nice if their outdoor seating had some space heaters and bug repellants available. The indoor seating at the restaurant is quite small, and so they have a separate area outside with benches.

In the end, definitely come here if you want some incredible seafood, but just know that they are going to be some issues in getting the food.
