Let me start by saying that I was blessed to marry my Cuban wife 15 years ago and we have spent a lot of time in Miami with family, including my very traditional Abuela (may she rest in peace). So, I have experienced a wide variety of Cuban cuisine, and have grown to love and appreciate authentic Cuban food. You haven’t lived unless a Cuban grandmother has showed off her cooking skills and put you in a food coma.
That being said, since moving to Ohio 12 years ago, we have struggled to find Cuban cuisine near Ashland, OH.
For my wife’s upcoming birthday, I asked her to find a Cuban restaurant anywhere in Ohio, and we would drive there to celebrate. She told me about CUBANO KING, and we went there today.
OMG!!! We enjoyed the best Cuban food since Abuela’s in Miami!!! We both had the Pernil with my wife adding Congri and Maduro for sides, while I enjoyed some Yucca Frita and Frijoles Negro.
The Pernil was excellently seasoned and soooo tender with zero fat like I have sometimes experienced in other restaurants. It was juicy and delicious !!!! I had always had just boiled Yucca before, but I am only going to order Yucca Frita from now on. Served with the most mouth watering cilantro sauce, I probably could have nibbled on those the rest of the day! My Frijoles Negro were tender and flavorful with absolutely perfect seasoning without having too much cumin as is often the case other places.
My wife took one look at the Congri and knew instantly that lots of care and attention had been given this often just “white rice and beans” dish. Minced peppers, garlic and the perfect seasoning gave the rice a rich brown glaze/color and a flavor that was superb.
Great Salsa music played lightly in the background while monitors showed beautiful pictures and videos of Cuban life and scenery. After talking a bit with the staff, it felt like I was with family, and they seemed as happy that we found them as we did! They treated us so well and we had such a great experience. It is an hour drive from home, but we plan to go up at least once a month from now on to enjoy their delicious offerings as it is worth it!
The quality of the food and the staff were the best, with very generous portions and excellent pricing for a great value.
We hope everyone will go check out Cubano King to experience their menu, atmosphere and authentic Cuban flavors which are like no other we have found. Once you do, I guarantee you’ll be back. We didn’t want to wait till next month to return and enjoy more, so we ordered some to take home for later!!!!

The staff here were so friendly and nice and thoughtful! They were excited to see us come for our first time to the restaurant. The place is cheerful with bright tropical colors and videos of Cuban scenes. My mom loves cubano sandwiches and tried them all over the place. She declared this the best one she has ever eaten! I ordered pollo a la plancha, which came with two sides – the waitress let me taste a yuca fry and Wow, I immediately ordered those as a side, and fried plantain chips made in house. Everything was wonderful! I can’t wait to come back and bring friends! Note: I actually came back with a friend! Still great!

I’ve been wanting to stop in since opening. Today my husband and I were on that side of town and were finally able to. Definitely recommend! The service was great & the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a beef & a chicken pastelillo, #1 with rice and plantains, #8 with a side of tostones. I highly recommend and will come back 🙂

You NEED to eat here NOW. Five stars, two enthusiastic thumbs up! I’m here visiting from Florida, so I’ve eaten a lot of Cuban food. This place is the bomb. Large portions, and super-friendly service. The owner greeted us when we came in, explained the menu and offered us SAMPLES. Seriously! I had the Pernil (roast pork w/seasoning), fried cassava, and congri. We also ordered a couple of pastelillos to go. EVERYTHING was excellent. Would eat here again!

This is hands down the best Cuban food in Lorain County! The woman running the restaurant is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself is very clean with a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had the pastelillo, and it was absolutely amazing — full of flavor and perfectly made. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely recommend this place. Portions are HUGE , price is more than fair , and the service is incredible/nice. Told the nice lady behind the counter that it was my first time eating here and how much I enjoyed the food and she gave me a portion of rice for free to try. Best Cubano I’ve ever had!!

My son and his family took me here for my birthday. This was my first time here, but his fourth time. There were a total of eight of us. The food was absolutely delicious and was made fresh. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. No one had any complaints. With five teenagers included, that speaks volumes about the food. I had the Bistec Encelbollado. Everytime I go I will try something different so that I can experience everything. Everyone at the restaurant was so pleasant and friendly and made you feel very welcomed. I just loved BeeGee, one of the owners. She is such a gem.

I Haven’t actually gone into the restaurant (yet). I ordered a pollo asado. (A side dish of chicken) for lunch. While my coworker ordered a full lunch. The chicken that I ordered was absolutely huge. And it was so tasty. It was tender and juicy. and I absolutely love whatever it was marinated in. It was so flavorful.I can’t wait to go back there. The lunch that my coworker ordered was praised mightily. She ordered the chicken with Cuban rice and smashed plantains.
What a welcome edition this restaurant is, and I love the absolute care that they are taking with their food.
