I ordered a small order of croquettas and a media noche. The Croquettas were cold in the center and the mix is supposed to be ham? Not sure of the mix used it had a weird texture. The sandwich was not good, very dry no love, the meat literally looked like oscar mayer deli meat! If you’re hungry it will be fine. It wasn’t terrible but El Rey makes a better Cuban Sandwich and they claim to only be half Cuban! The plates looked a lot better like the ropa vieja and yuca. I will try that next time and give them another chance.

Yes, for the record. I am Cuban

I haven’t eaten here in ten years. I remembered it was really good. Saw this cafe featured on Eat Like A Local so I went back today. Fantastic. Casual atmosphere. Staff was super friendly. The food was so delicious. I had the Cuban pressed sandwich with a strawberry cream cheese empanada. So fresh and full of flavor. Can’t wait to go back next time for breakfast.

Food was delicious. We went for breakfast and I got the breakfast mini which was the perfect size for me. It came with papitas too which were delicious. The bread on the sandwich was just sooooo good. Cafe con leche was also fabulous.

When you walk in you need to order at the counter and then they will serve you the order when you sit down. The girls that served us were very sweet.

Atmosphere is very homey/mom and popish and I really enjoyed how small it was. This place is a gem and I can’t wait to come back for lunch next.

Food:
I ordered the Cuban Sandwich which was good. I also purchased a pineapple drink that haven’t seen or tasted in a couple of decades. I’m not a soda drinker but I just had to purchase one and it was just as delicious as I remembered it.

Service:
I walked in and no one else was there except two employees who were speaking to each other. I had to practically stare at one in order to get some attention. I was addressed in English but of course, as an AfroLatina, I responded in Spanish.

Afterwards, I felt completely ignored especially since I was the only customer in the cafe and the employees continued to speak loudly to each other. Finally, a delivery guy showed up and it was an instant celebration amongst them. When my sandwich was ready, it was placed on the counter without a simple acknowledgement. They could’ve said something like, “ma’am, here’s your sandwich, I hope you enjoy it.

Atmosphere:
The restaurant was clean on the exterior and interior. The vibe was unwelcoming and therefore, I will not be returning. QUALITY customer service is key in any business.

Absolutely wonderful! Excellent service and they were very attentive to food allergies. Everything is obviously made fresh to order as I was able to get the chicken and cheese empanadas without cheese, as I’m allergic to milk proteins. I also ordered the picadillo plate and substituted vegetables for the rice. They did up squash and onions which was perfectly cooked. Everything tasted wonderful! This was my first visit but I will definitely be back

Great spot for a solid Cuban sandwich in Baytown. I usually order the original Cuban with yuca fries or plantains, and it’s consistently tasty and satisfying. The sandwich is the highlight for me, flavorful and well made. I haven’t explored much of the rest of the menu yet, but based on the sandwiches alone, it’s a place I keep coming back to.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Seems like the locals know the well. Ordered a 3 egg breakfast (big portions) and a 3 egg sandwich with cafe con leche, all were delicious. Todo bien!

Good experience. Authentic cuban bread, staff was very friendly.

I got a breakfast cuban with bacon as the protein, bacon was cooked the way I love it. Also pictured is a breakfast empanada with sausage. Food was fresh and hot.

I was hoping to get a cuban with palomilla and I didn’t see it as a menu option. I’ll have to ask next time, will be back when I’m in Baytown for work.
