Stopped by after passing by a few times and was curious about the location. The inside was very hip and modern, overall a nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful when ordering my drinks. This is a nice spot for meetings- conveniently tucked right in the middle of downtown and so many different businesses. They serve coffee, light food items and pressed juice. I look forward to coming back and trying the pressed juice and other coffee items listed. You should definitely visit if you’ve never been here before.

Pretty nice place and the coffee is good. I think that the young lady compared to the other workers did extremely well. Gents behind the counter, be cordial and gentlemanly and please present yourself to the public like you care. The place is gorgeous and very clean. Come and try it. Could have been 5 stars… but I think the owners need to address the issue that I mentioned.

Awesome stop if you’re driving through town!
The food was great, the service was even better, and the atmosphere was the cherry on the top. It was all super clean, and the seating is unique. I’d stop here again.

Delicious muffins and my iced hazelnut latte was just how I like it! Not too sweet, no bitterness, and a decent size. Great, inviting atmosphere to go and read, work, etc. The rewards program is also a great perk. Will definitely be back!

***Edited to add: I’m back for the second time. My bagel and cream cheese was perfectly toasted and delicious. The star of the show was my salted caramel and hazelnut latte, for sure. Aubrey and Chris welcomed me so warmly (pun intended on this frigid day!), and I am currently soaking in an incredible and comfy atmosphere while I read and journal for a bit. Thanks again, 1948!!

Update:
Full disclosure, I’m a coffee nerd.

I’m somewhat saddened about how 1948 has changed in a short time. I mean no disrespect, but on my last visit, the barista staff was really unprepared. They just didn’t know what beans they were brewing and the filter brew came out super over extracted (way more bitter than it needed to be.) It’s pretty expected for a cafe serving specialty coffee, especially with in-house roasts, to know what they’re brewing and how to do it well.
My frequent past visits were NOT like this.

Also, they’ve cut a lot of options from the menu and small grocery section beside the bar. I understand why, but it sucks to have both weakening coffee and food options.

Still hope for the best for this nice place.

1948 is a beautifully decorated, inviting cafe with friendly staff and a flavorful, menu. I came for the coffee and stayed for a smoothie bowl filled to the brim with delicious fruit. My specialty espresso drink hit the spot and showcased the talents of their barista staff. 4 stars for higher prices than other local coffee places, longer waits and reduced seating, but by all means, give this place a shot.

This place was really chill. The couch was very relaxing to the point I could fall asleep. The white Chocolate Mocha was good. ☕ Didn’t really like the parking but besides that, I would come back again.

Super friendly staff! And they have a cute little market with things like kombucha and various specialty condiments (I’m going to buy a couple, they look delicious), yummy espresso drinks, various teas, smoothies, snacks, and comfortable seating areas inside and outside. Definitely making this a regular spot!

I got a honeycomb earl grey cupcake and the Vintage Peddler: “espresso pulled over bourbon barrel aged orange bitters, stirred with an essance of vanilla, lavender and turmeric”

Tasty specialty coffee. There are lots of menu items I didn’t try – I went straight for the espresso drinks on the first go. The shop has a pleasant atmosphere, well lit, with a variety of seating choices including outdoor. My only complaint was that I wanted more (both for the value and because it was good) – they were out of larger hot cups than one tiny size. I got the 1948; the cardamom was very present (but not in an overpowering way) and the black salt wasn’t, which meant it wasn’t sulfur-tasting.

Staff is quick and friendly. We work nearby and used to go often.
$8.15 sugar free vanilla latte with coconut milk seems wildly expensive.
