Oh cher, this the real deal! Crazy Cajuns Boiling Pot earns the stamp of approval from this southern Louisiana cajun girl. My personal favorite is the blackened shrimp with a side of gouda grits. The gumbo’s not my mom’s, but it’s still pretty darn good. And the crawfish!!!! Makes my heart happy to know I have a piece of home right here in Birmingham. Feels like I’m back in the swamp every time I go to Crazy Cajuns.

P.S. One of the servers brought us some boiled peanuts last time we went. I never turn down boiled peanuts, especially gas station ones, but these were boiled in seafood boil! Cleared out my sinuses so eat with caution

Large portions! Good food! Loved the outdoor music. Live music Thursday’s with Rob! Leslie was a sweet server and kept the sweet tea flowing!

Just ordered on doordash. The seafood etoufee, seafood rotini, mash potatoes, and red beans and rice. The mash potatoes are the best mash potatoes i ever had in my life coming from someone from the south. Everything tastes great in its own right! Its a little spicy but not overwhelming. Seafood rotini paired with the mash potatoes is a great combo. Ive lived in Louisiana when i was younger and have had authentic Cajun food and this is close to it!

The shrimp had poop in every shrimp, it took away the experience for my first time. I will never return again. You can see all the black poop in the edge of the container.

The gumbo was overly spicy and had a texture more like rice and gravy, lacking the traditional flavor profile. I ordered the catfish platter, and when I asked the waitress about the fish, I pointed out that catfish shouldn’t be pink. Fish was cut like chicken strips. The french bread was hard as a brick with melted margarine. The shrimp etouffee tasted overwhelmingly of black pepper, as if an entire bottle of McCormick’s had been used. I sent the entire plate back and still had to pay for it. When I raised the issue, the waitress mentioned she wasn’t a manager and that nothing could be done. Overall, the food didn’t live up to its name, and there was nothing authentically Cajun about it. As a visitor from Louisiana, I was disappointed. I would rate it 0 stars.

Wonderful place for authentic Cajun food.

You can always tell a place is good based on the how busy it is.

Food was authentic and served piping hot. Also, the waitress (Lulu) was the hardest working server I have ever seen. She runs back and forth with all these hot liquid dishes with a great big smile or her face. I estimate she is doing the work of 3 people…

When you walk in, you are immediately hit by all the rich, delicious smells from the kitchen. I ordered the BBQ shrimp plate. For those you are not familiar, this is a butter based sauce with Cajun seasoned shrimp served with bread (see picture). It is not what people traditionally think of BBQ.

An absolute must visit if you are in Birmingham traveling south on 280. Not only will I be back, I plan on entertaining business colleagues here as well.

I have eaten here in many occasions and each and every time the food was delicious. I got what they called the Crazy Cajun Poboy that was their version of the roast beef Poboy they made with pork roast. I found the chunks of meat to be a little large but manageable. The flavor was very good. I have in the past gotten the crawfish Poboy and enjoyed it greatly. Others in my party got other dishes they also enjoyed. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal.

The rotini, gator, fish, pickles, grits, crawfish….EVERYTHING is delicious!!! You won’t find a better staff or more hospitable owners! There’s a reason they’ve been in business for 25+ years.
