The Crawtator! Holy smokes what a meal! Fresh and hot potato stuffed with fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, crawfish and queso cheese. So much of a hearty meal in a place at the end of the map! Must visit if you’re in the great state of Louisiana!

One of my favorite restaurants on the planet is in the not-that-easy-to-get-to town of Venice, Louisiana, located at more or less the end of the road in the Mississippi River delta. It’s about an hour and a half from New Orleans, and worth the trip, especially if you’ve never seen that part of the world. Just search for it on Google maps and you’ll see what I mean.

This trip we had the blackened shrimp po’boy; seafood gumbo chock-full of shrimp, oysters, crab, and redfish; and the alligator bites appetizer. Everything was delicious. The best part was watching all of the sport fishers coming in with their catch. Several had a huge catch of tuna. This shows a monster swordfish, and a big haul of redfish, etc. I can’t overstate how much we enjoyed going out there for the day! Servers were lovely, welcoming and helpful. They have a great marina shop, too.

Best marina restaurant in town! The view is beautiful as it overlooks the marina and you can see boats come and go along with various birds. The server was a little slow helping us get what we wanted to eat, but she was alone. We set outside and noticed they also had an inside seating area, but it was nice outside so we were fine. I had a cold Miller with fried oysters, fried soft shell crab and onion rings. The soft shell had a few hard spots, no fault of Crawgators. I do look forward to a meal and a view every trip to Venice. We have eaten there three times in three years and it’s always a treat, just not five star. Would definitely recommend a meal at Crawgators if you are lucky enough to go fishing or duck hunting out of Venice Marina in Venice Louisiana! 85% Florida Man Approved!

This was my first time coming here as I wanted to see the sun set and the big fish people were catching.

We were told to sit wherever and a server would be with us soon. It was a bit of a busy time because many had just come in off their fishing boats, but it took almost 45 minutes for someone to come by and ask if we were helped yet. We told her we hadn’t yet and would like to order.

She took our order, and then it was another 20-30 minutes to just get the drinks. Our food came out a little after that. Our appetizer never showed up.

I got the seafood pasta, which was very salty but overall not bad. The onion rings I ordered as a side were also pretty good. I just had a glass of Chardonnay.

My partner received his order incorrectly. He asked for blackened oysters and crab (which it says is an option on the menu). The waitress (different from the one we ordered from) said that it only comes fried and they don’t do blackened ones. Because he doesn’t eat fried food, we had them send the whole meal back and decided that it wasn’t worth it and he didn’t want anything else on the menu.

So in the end we only got my seafood pasta, side of onion rings, one glass of wine and one beer – and that came to $53 after tip.

The view was beautiful and it was fun seeing the fish, but I won’t be returning for food. I’ll only be returning for a nice drink by the dock.

Let’s just say that Venice doesn’t have much for dining options. That being g said, we ate all of our meals here. We enjoyed hamburger, shrimp burger, stuffed baked potato and red beans and rice. All were very good and plentiful. Beer was cold and atmosphere was awesome with the views of charter boats arriving. I would recommend d Crawgators highly.

This might be only place to eat in the marina but don’t let that make you think it’s not good. Fun spot to hangout and drink, plus the food is good. Red beans and rice were some of the best I’ve had and the batter they fry seafood is was really good as well

Great place to eat in Venice. Right at the dock where the charter boats bring back their catch of the day. You can have a great meal while watching groups come back, unload and process the fish they caught.

If your are this far down south in Louisiana this is the place!! the food was great the service was great and the atmosphere was what you would expect in a fishing village 🙂 it was just at/after lunchtime when we were there and the fishermen were pouring in by the droves bringing in their hauls of the morning. Sitting on the deck looking out over the marina was so relaxing.

My husband and I like to take drives to places around us that we’ve never been. We found this place and fell in love with it! The food and atmosphere were great! It’s also service dog friendly. Which is a plus!

Nice location- it’s at a marina. Service was friendly, attentive and food came timely. Now for the not so great. Both my husband and I ordered the combo shrimp/oyster “basket”. We opted for coleslaw (me), and potato salad (him) as they were momentarily out of French fries and we were offered alternatives. Combo “baskets” with sides came on a 10 inch paper plate. Coleslaw was grey and I didn’t care for the taste. Potato salad was ok. I wouldn’t have been so dismayed if it weren’t for the price- $30 seemed to me to be a bit much for 10 inch paper plates. Just saying…it’s a nice enough place, but be aware of what you will be paying $30 for.
