I wanted to first say that Miss Helen, from today, and the server, Marcus J from 8/5/25, both gave great service.

Today, Miss Helen had a great big smile, and was warm and welcoming. She smiled, greeted me on the way in, and provided excellent service throughout the entire time I was there, waiting for my to-go order.

The other day, Marcus J, the “to go server,” provided excellent service as well. He was patient, and executed amazing listening and personable skills. That day, my food was perfect. Thank you two for providing a 5 star experience / service.

Their “rating,” is a 5 star.

But anyway, anytime I visit any Cracker Barrel, I only order the “Mommas pancakes” meal, which comes with 3 pancakes, eggs, and I substitute the meat with 2 Impossible Sausages.

Long story short, today, my pancakes had traces of bacon / pork, on them. It’s rare that I have this issue, and have only had it one other time, at Culver’s.

When a grill is used, sometimes cooks don’t thoroughly wipe down / clean the grill before cooking the next item…

For people who have food allergies, food sensitivities, religious practices that exclude pork products, traces of pork is an issue. It’s been 13+ years since I’ve eaten pork, and consuming it makes me physically sick, for days. I don’t eat it directly or indirectly.

I’m sure it was probably honest mistake, but please be more mindful of the grill in the future, to properly clean it to avoid any mishaps… Luckily, I spotted the bacon on the pancakes and stopped eating them immediately. I threw the rest of the pancakes away.

The meal isn’t cheap, nearly $16, so please make sure the grill is cleaned, and pork free. Thank you.

I tried taking pictures at multiple angles to see the bacon.

The staff at this location is super friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
I was there with a friend for lunch when another one of our friends called us and decided to join us.
I made our waitress aware of the situation and told her that if she wanted, we could go to another table since we were already done with lunch.
To my surprise, she said absolutely not stay here and take as long as you want. Yes!!! We gave her a very generous tip since she was super wonderful.
Thank you, Michelle P. for the awesome service and great attitude, you’re truly one of kind.
Update 04/30/2022
After all these years and after the covid-19 pandemic, Cracker Barrel remains one of the most affordable restaurants in the industry.
Their portions are still very reasonable, and their prices have not gotten out of control.
If you’re looking for an affordable family meal, I highly recommend this establishment for your entire family.
Update 06/12/2023
Cracker Barrel has made a lot of changes to the menu, so next time you order your favorite meal, it may not look the same.
They cut back portions and quantity and made some items side orders for an additional price, so make sure you look at the menu closely and ask your server to help you out.

Food was very good as usual. Initial service was good. After finishing we waited for leftover box and check and finally had to go find a hostess to get our server who seemed to disappear for over ten minutes.

This rating is related to their retail store as I didn’t eat at the restaurant.

This Cracker Barrel is located in Romeoville, IL and the staff, and the retail, are fantastic.

A couple of years ago, my BIL chose this for his November birthday. We were in awe of the retail operation. So many wonderful items: decorations, clothing, novelty items, candy, so many fun and useful things and great gifts. Fun and different cards.

And the retail staff were so helpful and friendly.

Can’t wait to go back again.

Their fried chicken is always so good. And now they have a Nashville hot variety. With mac and cheese and hashbrown casserole as our sides, plenty of food for 2. And of course you cannot forget the biscuits and sweet tea.

My elderly family member had some trouble with her entree, but the server took extra steps to make it right. The manager kindly replaced the meal and refunded the item in question. The customer service made up for the problems- proving once again that people make the difference.

Very good Cracker Barrel. It was really busy when we were there but got seated quickly and food came quick as well. The newish roast chicken was enjoyable. The dumplings side was a bit bland but the other ones were tasty

Kinda disappointed by the racist service here. Came here to treat my parents since they wanted to get brunch here. They were pretty busy as they always are. Waited 20 min for a table for 3. When I went to get in line for a table, all 3 hostesses were helping one person. They were not efficient in their work and long waiting lines were formed. What really shocked me was our server. She was an older lady and understandably slower then the rest. She took our order and brought us the food but each time she would come to check on us, she would only address my dad and wouldn’t care to even look at my mom and myself, probably thinking thay her tips will come from him. I had to ask someone else to find her so I can add more food to our order. Which she later forgot to bring or even put in on time. She never asked how the food was or if we need refills on our water but she would bring lemonade refills to my dad without even asking. That type of service was not appreciated. Food here is good as expected. Pancakes were not prepared right this time, but normally I get great pancakes here. They were kinda low on inventory in the shop too but I am sure they will get more stuff soon.

Cracker Barrel isn’t just for old folks (though they love it plenty). The menu is huge and they serve breakfast all day, but the chicken fried chicken and meatloaf are standouts. Save room for a peach or apple cobbler! The gift shop has some real treasures, fun toys, seasonal decorations, and loads of old timey candy & pop. Employees are super friendly and won’t hesitate to engage you in polite conversation — it’s that signature southern charm! I definitely recommend this Cracker Barrel.
