Food was okay. The hash brown casserole(normally my favorite item) was mushy and bland. I am wondering if it was old or just overcooked. It was unpleasant to eat.
Service was meh. Anytime I asked her a question(e.g. is the $5 take away meal deal valid to order at any time of the day) she had to go check then would come back and answer. In this case, she came back and told us “yes, we could order” then promptly turned on her heels and walked away. Both my husband and I immediately busted out laughing cause it was so ridiculous, unexpected, and fast. She didn’t even take a breath after answering before she walked off. Idk if she was new but she seemed to struggle a bit with the easy stuff.
$36 for 2 meals, 2 waters, and a $5 meal deal…not including a tip. Kind of sad but at least we know what to expect should one of try to talk the other into coming back.
I want to be clear that this does not reflect the individual store location, management, or staff. The employees have consistently been kind and attentive, and the atmosphere remains warm and inviting. My concerns feel more aligned with changes happening higher within the corporate structure.
While the service and ambiance still reflect the traditional charm the restaurant is known for, the overall execution of the meals no longer feels up to the standard many loyal customers have come to expect. The flavors seem less rich, portion consistency has varied, and some dishes appear to prioritize cost-efficiency over the homemade quality that once set Cracker Barrel apart.
It’s understandable that leadership changes can bring operational adjustments, but maintaining food quality should remain a top priority—especially for a brand built on nostalgia and comfort. I hope corporate leadership takes customer feedback seriously and works to restore the level of quality that made Cracker Barrel a staple for so many families.
i got the country boy breakfast and it was average. the steak was overcooked but i expected it to be. scrambled eggs and hash brown casserole were okay as well.
the highlight was the fresh biscuits that came. they were hot out of the oven.
i’d come back again in the future.
We decided to try a few different items off of the menu. We ordered the southern barbecue ribs with loaded mashed potatoes, mac and cheese with bacon, The chicken fried steak with steamed broccoli and fried okra, the chicken tender meal with mac and cheese and french fries. The fried catfish plate with a double order of dumplings.
We requested the biscuits and cornbread muffins. For dessert, we ordered the double chocolate Coca-Cola cake and the chocolate pecan pie both with vanilla ice cream.
The sugar plum tea is absolutely amazing. She confirmed for us that this is only here during the holidays.. this tea is absolutely delicious I would highly recommend trying it. The food was all brought out piping hot and absolutely delicious. The southern barbecue ribs were fork tender, seasoned well and very very delicious. The catfish was served piping hot with the side of dumplings. It was delicious and the only thing that was missing was the hot sauce.
The country fried steak was cooked very well and well-seasoned and the gravy was good. The chicken tender meal with fries and the mac and cheese we’re good. However, my daughter stated that it need a little bit more seasoning on the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese with bacon is very good. However, it needed a little salt and pepper as well.
By this time, we were all getting full and we decided to take the dessert with us. We did try it at the table, the double chocolate Coca-Cola cake is absolutely delicious, extremely moist and the hot fudge chocolate hot and melty on the top. I highly recommend that you try this cake. The chocolate pecan pie is very good as well and it was a hit.
I would highly recommend coming here. I know that we will be back to try more items on the menu. Thank you, Paige, for making our lunch the best.
