Pretty short wait… about 10 min.
In this short time, at least two employees talked to us, letting us know that a table was being cleaned for us.
The waiter was patient, precise with our orders, kind and professional.
The food came within 10-15 minutes.
Checked on us, at least, three times, after the food had been served and refilled my coffee.
The syrup for my pancakes was still warm, in the bottle, when the waiter brought the food on the table.
Huge portions.
We had the grandpa and grandma breakfasts.
Great experience.
Great atmosphere.
Great decor.
The atmosphere was great! The fire was going and crackling. The heat from the fire place felt great.
The vanilla iced latte was okay. For those who usually get a plant based milk, the do not offer that in their lattes. 2% milk is what I was told they used. I still ordered it. I just prefer plant-based milk in mine. I can have dairy.
I ordered the Sausage and Egg Hasbrown Casserole, but the ran out of hasbrown cassarole due to them filling holiday orders. Which I understand and was okay with. I work in industry and I understand things run out from time to time. It is just the fact it took them 20 minutes after me ordering it for the waitress to tell me they ran out. It would have taken another 30 minutes for the next batch to be ready, so I ordered the Uncle Herschel’s Favorite Breakfast and got country ham, scrambled eggs, and 2 ordered of grits instead. The eggs were dry, luckily, I like ketchup on my eggs. The grits were okay. They are just basic and bland, which there is nothing wrong with that. I know some prefer them that way. I added hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Should have had the froed apples! I do always love a good and salty country ham, so that was good! Hashbrown cassarole is always my favorite, so I usually always order it. So, I was a bit sad. I will just make some tonight using a copycat recipe.
A majority of the time, I get what I am expecting, but today was not what I was expecting. Hopefully, after the holiday meals are all done and caught up, it will be better.
The machine for the fried chicken was broken the last time we were there so I was beyond excited to officially try it this time and it did not disappoint! Complementary biscuits and cornbread were also top notch and the hot mocha espresso was super delicious. Can’t wait to be back soon!
My partner got the bacon and egg hasbrown cassarole and it didnt come with any of the toppings or cheese, but it did come with one big fried chicken lump?? I will definitely never be getting togo again, much less coming back to this location. Dissapointing
I had my heart set on a seasonal dish I once loved — the smoked chicken with potatoes and corn — but since it was out of season, I chose the new herb chicken instead. For the appetizer, drink, and dessert, I trusted my server to surprise me. About 5–10 minutes later, she returned to let me know they were out of the herb chicken… and pretty much everything else. No desserts, no appetizers except fried cheese, and for entrées they only had fried fish & chips or steak and shrimp. This was at 2 PM, so I was surprised they had run out of almost their entire menu, but I stayed polite and went with the steak and shrimp since I’m not a fan of fried fish.
The fried cheese appetizer came first. It was about a 4/10 for me — mostly because it tasted like it had been cooked in the same fryer as fish, and every other bite had a fishy taste. After about 30 minutes, my meal arrived. The mashed potatoes were cold (not lukewarm — actually cold). The steak itself was around a 3/10 in quality, though I will say it was cooked perfectly, so cooking-wise I’d give it an 8/10. And the broccoli was 9/10.
After finishing my meal, I was told once again that there were no desserts or anything else available. I paid, grabbed one of my favorite chocolates from the shop area, and headed out.
I’m not writing this to bash the restaurant — I know places have off days — but this visit was disappointing, especially compared to my previous ones. I truly hope management takes a look at the food availability and kitchen consistency so the experience matches the great atmosphere and friendly service. I’d love to come back one day and have a better visit.
I GIVE THIS PLACE 2 out 10..
GOOD GRIEF
