After an event in Shelbyville, we decided to get a treat. My wife had heard about the Cow Palace, so we gave it a try. Go her!
We walked in and saw their decent selection of ice cream. A few people were ahead of us, so that gave some time to choose what we wanted.
We decided on a banana split, as we saw a server making one for another customer. When ordering, we went with the Michigan Pothole instead of the regular chocolate ice cream. That was a good thing!
The banana split was a good size for the price paid. There was a great balance between the ice cream and toppings and it was enough to sate both of our sweet tooths.
Overall, we would be back if we’re in the area! Good stuff!

Great food, great people and great Ice cream!!! We stopped in Shelbyville on the way home from Cincinnati and found the Cow Palace. The food was great! We had the shrimp Po boy, the club, and the pork tenderloin sandwich. They were all so good! Then we got the ice cream and the different Sundays were all so delicious! Our server was so nice and our dinner overall was excellent!!

Have been coming to this place for over 20 years & have almost always ordered the tenderloins. So today this is what I got. Took one bite and it was hard as a rock & tasted like year old grease. Hardly any fries and the lettuce looked rotten. Not sure what has happened but will not be going back…very sad.

November 2023: Good food with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Friendly wait staff. The BBQ, Fish, and Broiled Chicken sandwiches were really good. Mozzarella Sticks were crunchy and melty, as they should be. Didn’t rate higher because we declined trying their ice cream after seeing the worker lick ice cream off her very long nails between each scoop.
Clean restrooms with a pleasant smelling air freshener.

Service was very great due to only having two waitresses. They were both so patient and kind. The food was exceptional. I really loved my grilled chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese. The ice cream is excellent, especially the triple chocolate and the peanut butter cup.

We came here for a late lunch and had the whole place to ourselves. We hadn’t been here for quite awhile. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Everything is cooked to order and served hot and fresh. This is a hometown place with a great comfort food menu.

Came to Shelbyville on the wrong day, and found the right place to eat! Classic BLT was great as well as the fries. My son loved his bacon cheese burger, and chocolate milkshake. Staff was very friendly, prices were affordable, food was excellent. Stopped here because my 15yr old loved the name, best and delicious. whoops this week!
Update:
Came back with my now 19yr old son and my aunt. What can I say other than we hit the jackpot again!
Our server was beautiful, serving us so well. The Sweet Tea was spot on.
My son had a bacon burger with fries, I had the Tenderloin Lunch Platter Special with Cole Slaw and fries. My aunt had the Country Breakfast Platter.
The fries were perfect. Great crunch to it that we loved with ranch for dipping. The large Tenderloin and Cole slaw were spot on. And my aunt couldnt get over how great her breakfast was and that the country gravy was amazing.
Thank you again, Cow Palace for a wonderful experience, and great food!

The stop here in Shelbyville at the Cow Palace left a lot to be desired. Service was prompt and respectful. My issue, because I’m a bit of a foodie is the flavor of foods purchased. Today was breakfast. Country Breakfast to be exact. The gravy and biscuit was alright. The eggs were bland and lacking fluffiness. The country potatoes, while even having been brought with chopped green peppers were quite boring. No flavor. The country steak was very salty.
Accordingly this small family restaurant has been here since 1984 and seems to do a thriving business. My suspicions lead me to expect the clientele are mostly 60 years plus. It’s the only justification I have for bland food. Keep the blood pressure down and the cholesterol at a minimum.
As someone who has eaten at hundreds of different restaurants it just want for me.
