Honest Review from 1/24/26:
We had an 8:30 pm reservation at Shepard’s Cove Kitchen and Bar to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated immediately, but then sat for about 20 minutes without being acknowledged, despite servers repeatedly walking past us to take care of the table in front of us, and even the table behind us, who was seated after we were.
When we brought this up to the hostess, she admitted she forgot to let the servers know we had been seated. Ironically, the waitress who had already taken the order of the table behind us ended up being our server. As someone who has worked in restaurants, it was disappointing…as a server, paying attention to your surroundings is part of the job. There were only two servers on the floor, and both passed our table multiple times without stopping.
Once service finally began, it continued to fall short. We were forgotten about for long stretches of time, struggled to get refills or place additional drink orders, and constantly felt like we had to chase down our waitress. To “make up” for the experience, the restaurant took a little less than 3.5% off our bill…about $5. Nothing on the menu costs $5, and not even a single drink was comped, which felt dismissive given the situation.
Adding to the disappointment, we were seated outside hoping for a beach view, but instead our view was blocked by several bottles of cleaning sprays and supplies lined up on the railing—at least four that I counted (picture shows 3, the others were off to the side). People choose outdoor seating to enjoy the scenery, not to stare at cleaning products, and it completely ruined the ambiance.
That said, the drinks were good and the food was the highlight of the evening. I had the Korean BBQ salmon, my date ordered the Cove’s fancy fried shrimp, and we shared the appetizer sampler, everything tasted very good and helped salvage the night.
Overall, I’d give the service 2 stars, but the food earns a solid 4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed my meal here! The cod fish and filet mignon were both excellent — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The sea bass had a bit of a fishy taste, which is normal for that type of fish, but it just wasn’t my favorite. The crispy fried calamari was amazing — huge pieces and cooked just right! The servers were very nice and great with kids, which made the experience even better. Only downside is food took almost an hour to arrive, also if you did not have a resevation and want to sit at the patio expect another 45mins to sit. Otherwise, everything was fantastic!

Cove Kitchen & Bar was on my radar this vaycay and thankfully we got there on the last night of our trip! All over excellent and I highly recommend them! Located right on the beach you have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Because the weather was a little cool we sat inside and it Is upscale but trendy. We ordered a surf-n-turf combination of sea bass and ribeye to split….YUM. It was a ‘savor every bite’, ‘I don’t want this meal to end’ kind of experience! But even though the food is worth the trip, our server, Gianna, was the frosting and the sprinkles! What an Excellent server with a smile that actually reaches her eyes, who makes you know that she truly enjoys making other people happy. I hope they know what a genuine gem they have in her! Trust me, ask for her section, you won’t regret it.

Great food and atmosphere! The outdoor deck with cove felt more private and secluded from the main Clearwater Beach. It did take awhile to get our food but the staff were friendly and took a kids meal off the bill for the wait.

My boyfriend and and I visited during our stay in Clearwater Beach during the first week of March 2026. I was so glad that we got to sit outside because I had heard wonderful things about the view! Our server Josh was disorganized and not very quick. He often came over to our table forgetting the same thing over and over, and brought sides/drinks very in a very late manner. My boyfriend was missing his side of carrots and didn’t receive them until he was fully finished his steak. Besides those minor details, the food was very good! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and when we did get our sides, they were very good.

The entrance is lovely, and the girls at the front greet you warmly. The place is clean, modern, and tasteful, with a sea view from every angle thanks to its excellent lighting. Obviously, the best part is the terrace for enjoying your favorite meal, but since it was quite cold and windy, we settled for a photo.

We had a party of 8. Server Renee was very prompt in attending to us. She was quick for service and answered or questions quickly. The food was served promptly and it was good. Everyone enjoyed what was ordered. They have the ability to server bigger parties and a bar area as well. It was a great place to enjoy a Sunday brunch. The restaurant is clean and well set up. Definitely a place we all plan to go to again. Reasonable pricing on the food and drinks! Enjoy a great view overlooking the water!

This is our first time visiting this area and we highly recommend coming to the Cove for breakfast/brunch. We were able to get a table right next to the water and the views were stunning. Renee was our server and she was amazing!! Attentive, warm personality, and very friendly. We bonded over our love for the Buffalo Bills as we are from Buffalo NY. When we come for our next vacation to this area, we will be returning here for sure!

Appetizers took a very long time to arrive (30+ minutes). Bruschetta – bread was burnt.
Dinner order wasn’t taken until AFTER we finished our appetizers. Another 10 minutes after we ordered dinner, the manager came to let us know that they were out of lobster cannolinni, but that they could have it easy for us if we wanted to wait 40 minutes for dinner.
My friend opted for something else. It still took 35-40 minutes for our food to be delivered to our table, and when it arrived, the fries were cold.
The burger was actually delicious, as were the fries once we got got ones; which is the only reason that I’m giving them a 2 for food.
I believe our waitress was doing the best she could, given that she had 2 large tables, and they got us a heater when we needed it.
I won’t return. Very disappointing experience for our birthday dinner.
On the plus side, the sunset view was amazing.
