The pepper jack crab soup is fantastic. It’s rich, creamy and had lots of crab in it.
I had a burger in special. It was a burger with BBQ sauce, onion rings, cheddar cheese and ham. The burger was perfectly cooked. I got the sweet potatoe fries with their house made marshmallow dip. I liked the dip, though it is very sweet.
My wife had their Southwest chicken salad. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. It’s definitely not the pre cooked diced chicken you get at lots of places. The salad was tasty, though it could’ve had a bit more of the black beans and corn in it.
Overall we were pleased. The service was fantastic, prompt and friendly. The food came out quickly even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon.
I really wanted to like this place, but the food and overall experience fell short for me.
We ordered the steak appetizer with garlic bread. The bread had an odd taste and texture, and the steak was extremely tough, chewy, and fatty. I actually had to spit out one bite because it got stuck in my braces. I only managed a bite or two. When my entrée arrived, it turned out to be the same steak, with the same issues – gristly, difficult to cut, and lacking flavor. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat it.
Our server was friendly and did remove my entrée from the bill, which I appreciate. However, she repeatedly mentioned that we had eaten all of the steak appetizer, which wasn’t accurate. My husband ate most of it; I barely touched mine, so that felt a bit uncomfortable to hear multiple times.
Seating was also an issue. The restaurant says “seat yourself,” and we unknowingly picked a spot where the floor dips. With mobility limitations, it was extremely uncomfortable and difficult to sit there. Clearer guidance would help guests pick a suitable spot.
For the price point, I expected better quality. The menu leans toward the higher end for bar-style food, so the tough steak and lack of flavor were disappointing.
The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was nice, but based on the food quality, comfort level, and price, I don’t plan on returning.
