I recently tried Country Oven Small South Indian Cafe and it’s such a cozy little hangout spot in VA. 4.5/5 .Craving Indian food , their taste is good. The vibe is relaxed and perfect for catching up with friends over comfort food. I ordered their haleem and honestly, it was really good — rich, well-cooked, and full of flavor without being overly spicy. The texture was smooth and comforting, just the way haleem should be.
If you’re looking for a casual place to sit, talk, and enjoy some tasty food, this spot is definitely worth a visit. I’d go back again for that haleem.Love their Indian flavoured pastry cakes butterscotch and chocolate moose .To summarise they have tasty food.

We got hair in a takeout haleem, they told that they will get us a refund, but didn’t got yet.
but The spot offers classic items like onion samosa, haleem, and Irani Chai. The chikoo juice was a definite winner, tasting delicious, although the samosa was average. The haleem was decent. The restaurant has a good ambiance and is known to be a popular evening destination. Highly recommended for Indian food near Virginia and DC.

I almost drink Chikkoo shake everyday from this place. They literally charge 5.48$ . Sometimes these black things come into the drink , which makes it impossible to drink without picking them from your mouth on every sip. And also today they added too much heavy cream. You can see white dots from the picture I posted. It’s hard to drink this thick. Yesterday this was fine. The issue was the consistency of quality. I always eat upma pesarattu too but yesterday they literally roasted it too much and I could smell and taste it.I go to this place almost everyday but they are definitely going back on quality to cope up with the crowd.I know this happens once in a while but it’s frustrating when we are hungry and this happens .

Tried the goat haleem and goat curry at Country Oven and both were really good. The haleem was thick, flavorful, and had very tender goat meat. The goat curry was spicy, tasty, and went perfectly with the bread. Everything felt fresh and nicely cooked. Definitely worth trying if you like goat dishes.

Best place for Indian fast food!! The Irani Indian chai was so flavourful and Kadak!! Pav bhaji, pani puri, was delicious. Samosa chaat felt like it was missing samosa- but the Chole in samosa chaat tasted great. Black Forest and Ras malai cakes were scrumptious I’d recommend this place to everyone.

My parents recently moved back home to Herndon, Virginia, and raved about this spot. As a South Indian family this spot is the perfect place to grab food that your Amma or grandma would make! Spiced to perfection, the restaurant is clean. The staff is all very helpful and on top of that the food is 10 out of 10. I got the Masala Dosa and Madras tea, twice It gets busy, so make sure you have a couple minutes to wait it is well worth it. All of the meats are Halal. The desserts are all fresh and moist! The perfect place for a special occasion cake to be ordered. Make this your next stop in Herndon!

I’ve tried Haleem at many spots, but the bowl I had here easily in my top three. The texture was exactly what you want: velvety, thick, and perfectly ‘laced’ (the meat was so well-pounded it completely melded with the grains).

The food joint is good. Much appreciated. Am a regular. But the place is littered with cig butts. Such a shame. Wherever we Indians go, we leave our stamp. But not the right way. Do something about it.

literally delicious food every time I come here a lot for takeout. I’ve never received any order that was not well cooked. being a vegan who is vegetarian sometimes, I get my protein sources from chickpeas. You must try their chickpea masala or Chana masala. It’s so good.
I’ve also tried other things here like their Gobi Manchurian, paneer and veggie puffs, paneer dosa, other veg entrées like paneer Tika masala, Yellow daal and Shahi paneer.
Kudos to their chefs they’re doing a great job.
Customer service could be better though!

We ordered several dosas, and they were served cold, low quality, and tasted sour, as if the batter had been over-fermented or prepared the previous day. The texture and flavor were unacceptable, and none of us enjoyed the food. When we raised the issue, the staff did not respond or take corrective action.
Cleanliness was also a concern — food debris and grime under the tables, inconsistent water service, and no proper table service. The environment felt unhygienic.
For the prices charged, the quality and service are far below expectations.
Recommendations for improvement:
• Serve freshly prepared, warm dosas (not overnight or over-fermented batter).
• Improve ingredient quality and consistency.
• Maintain basic cleanliness standards, especially dining areas.
• Be attentive to customer feedback and provide basic service.
