The steak was incredible. Near fork tender, flavorful, crusty on top, and not mangled in shape. The truffle fries are the best we’ve ever had; I’ll probably crave them for awhile! The calamari was also tender and battered well, with the coriander sauce being our favorite.
However, the Caesar salad was underwhelming in flavor and the dressing was kind of loose. We ordered some lemons to give it some oomph and that helped us finish (the $18 salad, so it wasn’t going to waste).
And the Bearnaise……. We are experts on this sauce and order it with every filet no matter where. It was not good. It arrived to the table with air bubbles floating on top and was so loose and watery. My husband likes to pour his on his plate to drag the steak through—huge mistake. It immediately turned his plate into a yellow lake mixing with the juices from the steak. Very disappointing.
After finishing and being very, very full, the bill arrived. We’ve been looking at the menu for weeks and planning our visit. We are not strangers to fine dining and are happy to pay for high prices for a well rounded experience. But I left feeling like we didn’t get our money’s worth, for a few of reasons. Hence, the 4 stars.
Maddie our server was cute, but not nearly trained enough to match the bill. She asked us twice in the first two visits to the table if we were celebrating anything special. The answer was no both times, which told me she wasn’t listening to us on her first ask, rather running through the script. Nicole, the manager, felt rehearsed and stiff too.
The open kitchen is fun, but it’s a huge challenge to have it be excellent. We were seated in the half moon booths right across from the kitchen and were distracted the entire meal by several instances lacking professionalism in the kitchen. A few personal conversations from staff that were too loud. A lot of staff standing around a lot of the time—maybe that’s why the prices are so high.
And call me old fashioned, but I really enjoy when establishments scrape the table cloth after dinner so you can enjoy dessert on a clean table. We had the fries so ours was particularly dirty. It didn’t happen, sue me.
And finally, they charge $2 for ice in your Old Fashioned and don’t even have it listed on the menu or inform you of it before hand. My husband was like, “What the heck, that’s how you serve an Old Fashioned?” We acknowledge that $2 for most of the regulars here is but a drop in the bucket, but it was the spirit of the hidden fee that bothered me. Just charge $17 for your drink and call it a day.
To conclude, we thought the steak prices were fair, but everything else was inflated with service not matching the high end prices.
The well stocked bar has a wide selection of high end wines and liquors. The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable in maximizing your culinary experience.
The food is extraordinary with only the best cuts of meat and fish. Even most of the sides are made in house.
The place is classy with being pretentious, easily one of the best restaurants in greater Atlanta.
Lauren was an absolutely superb server, so knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. She made us feel welcomed and well taken care of the entire evening.
The food was delicious, and my steak was cooked perfectly…tender, flavorful, and exactly how I ordered it. Everything came out beautifully and exceeded expectations. I’m not a fan of chocolate or cheesecake, Lauren and the Chef made a little something special for my dessert!
Outstanding service paired with excellent food made this a memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back and will be asking for Lauren again! We attended a private anniversary celebration and it was a great experience!
You should absolutely, positively, oh-for- seriously… dine here… RIGHT NOW!!!!!
