We are a Ann Arbor based Mexican restaurant located inside of the Zal Gaz Grotto Club. We offer limited service dine in and carry out, we do not have waitstaff but we do have a comfortable and welcoming space to eat in or on our patio (weather permitting). We also offer a full range of alcoholic beverages and live music events on-site through the Zal Gaz Grotto Club! Our concept is Chef owned and our cuisine is exceptionally fresh, progressive and flavorful using only the best local ingredients we can find. Come taste the difference!

The absolute best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Described as more of a California-Mexican inspiration. All and I mean all the food is very flavorful and high quality. You can clearly taste and see the passion they have! Online ordering was easy, pickup was straightforward with easy to follow directions and the food was still hot after a 20 min drive! The owner was also extremely nice! I really love the to-go packaging used, the boxes/bowls are made of sustainable materials that are good quality! This place is a must try! This will be my go-to Mexican restaurant from now on!

This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had. The tacos and the chips and salsa were delicious. I love that they have vegan options. Their salsa verde is amazing! I recommend takeout since the dine in area is definitely not what we expected. Not bad, just different.

I used to like Zal Gaz for it’s quirk and as an entertainment outlet. There’s some old guy that runs the operation or is IDK the grand puba or something there. He’s a horrible person and extremely unpleasant and ruins the atmosphere. This is good food. It’s a shame on the location.

Yum! I got a chicken burrito and an agua fresca. The burrito came with chips, which had yummy seasoning on them and the burrito was pretty tasty. It’s hard to find a good burrito in Ann Arbor, but this one did the trick!

Kudos to the talented chefs behind the scenes for crafting the finest tacos in Ann Arbor. One suggestion: consider doubling up on the tortillas, as they tend to fall apart easily. We appreciated the grilled tortillas, as most places use them right out of the package without warming them up. The delicious guac, along with the flavorful elote and pickled veggies, was also a hit. The churros were also enjoyable. Although the horchata was tasty, it was sweeter than anticipated. We will certainly be back. Do keep in mind that the prices are higher than most places in town.
