TL;DR: Excellent Indian restaurant near New Haven with flavorful dishes, upscale presentation, and courteous service. Great ambience, clean restrooms, and authentic South Indian flavors — slightly pricey but worth it.

Details:

Our family of five adults stopped by Coromandel Cuisine of India in Milford, CT, for lunch while traveling, and it turned out to be an excellent experience. The restaurant is conveniently located close to New Haven and easy to find.

We arrived around 12:30 PM on a Saturday, and while the restaurant wasn’t too busy initially, it started filling up soon after. The ambience was calm, pleasant, and nicely decorated — giving a comfortable yet upscale dining feel.

Food & Presentation: We ordered two appetizers — Coromandel Sham Savera and Lasuni Gobi. Both were excellent in taste and beautifully presented. The Sham Savera had four pieces served with a bit of rice and a rich tomato-based sauce, garnished with spices — a unique and flavorful dish. The Lasuni Gobi came crispy, accompanied by a colorful salad of beet, carrot, and radish. The presentation for both dishes showed a lot of attention to detail.

For the main course, we chose Kaikari Kuruma and Paneer Hare Pyaaza, along with a mix of breads — chilli naan, paratha, and chapathis. The curries were flavorful, perfectly balanced in spice (we chose medium), and portion sizes were generous — we even had some leftovers. Both entrees came with servings of rice. It was particularly nice to see traditional chapathi on the menu, which is often hard to find and a great lighter option compared to naan.

Service & Ambience: The service was excellent. The waitstaff were polite, attentive, and efficient — always moving around and ensuring guests were taken care of. The cutlery was good quality, though it would be helpful if they included a spoon in the set.

The restaurant’s interior was well-decorated with thoughtful details, and the restrooms were spotless and nicely maintained. There’s also a bar area, adding to the full dining experience. While the lot and surrounding buildings appear a bit old, the place felt safe and welcoming inside.

Pricing: The restaurant is slightly on the pricier side (around $20 per person), but the quality of food, presentation, and service justify the cost.

Overall: Everyone in our family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. With excellent flavors, great presentation, courteous service, and a pleasant atmosphere, Coromandel Cuisine of India in Milford easily earns a 5/5 from us.

Would definitely recommend to anyone craving authentic and refined Indian cuisine in the New Haven area.

We were coming home for vacation later Saturday afternoon/evening and my partner was in the mood for Indian cuisine. He decided to go to Coromandel. It’s been a few years since we’ve been here. We arrived at 7:30 and were immediately greeted and sat at our table. For appetizers, we chose Samosa chaat(which we never tried before) and vegetable samosas. Both were excellent! For my entrée, I chose chicken tikka masala, and I had it on the mild side and my partner had chicken madras. Both entrées were excellent. We decided to go for dessert and shared a dish of kheer. It was very creamy and delicious. One thing that I have to mention here is the wait staff. They are very attentive, professional, and very engaging. Not once did I have to ask for my water glass to be filled up and they must have filled it up five times. They want to make sure that you are enjoying your time at the restaurant! We really enjoy this restaurant and we will try to go more often in the future!

We ordered Gobi, Raju Garikodi Vepudu, and Coromandal Biryani. The food was good overall, but the Raju Garikodi Vepudu felt more like a chicken curry than a proper vepudu. Please try to improve the preparation to match the authentic style.

We were quite disappointed with our dining experience at Coromandel. The palak chaat did not meet expectations and felt like a waste of money, while the tandoori paneer was tough and difficult to chew. Unfortunately, the main courses were also underwhelming in terms of flavor. Jackfruit bun was unique and one can try this.

We went for my father in law’s (born and raised in Kerala) 80th birthday lunch on a Saturday. It was absolutely delicious, and the wait staff were very attentive (and patient when taking our order 🙂 ). We had a smorgasbord of their weekend lunch specials (which come with a naan or roti, paneer, rice and salad), including the Chicken Gossi, the lentils and the Shrimp one. Be sure to get the tiffin special as an appetizer to share (one is plenty for 2 people) – it comes with a perfectly prepared masala dosa, idli, vada and excellent chutney and sambar. The mango lassi is top notch.

Everything tastes so fresh; it brought us straight back to India.

Last but not least, it is very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to come back.

The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. My favorite was the Sham Savera, with its incredible taste and unique texture. I also loved the Peshawari Naan with the flavorful Paneer Hare Pyaza.

The interior of Coromandel adds to the overall experience. The decor creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

I highly recommend visiting Coromandel for a memorable dining experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the combination of delicious food, beautiful presentation, and a lovely ambiance makes it a must-visit restaurant.

Delicious food, fantastic staff, and nice decor.

When most of the clientele are Indian, you know that you’re at the right spot for delicious authentic Indian cuisine

We started with the Coromandel Platter (for 2) as an appetizer and it was a great variety of chicken, and lamb items. I loved everything except the chicken wings. I feel like they didn’t add anything to the platter. Everything else was excellent.

Also tried the Beef Rogan Josh (beef curry) and the Laal Maas (lamb curry). Both dishes were fantastic and would highly recommend them. The meat was tender and the sauce had a little bit of a spicy kick, but nothing crazy.

Naan bread was fresh and fluffy.

The servers were very polite and attentive.
