Went there when I first moved to Salem when I was trying to find a bar I liked. The bartender was very understanding to me being new to the bar scene and was great with recommendations, but I felt a little judged for not knowing what was going on. The KJ on the karoke night was visibly (and at times audibly) judgmental of certain songs and seemed to let some people go several times before others instead of following an actual rotation. Pool tables are way too close together and too close to some of the tables, which made risk of getting hit with pool sticks a very high possibility. The entire vibe felt very clique-y for the cool and popular people, and it strongly felt like if you weren’t a part of that clique that you weren’t wanted there. My whole group agreed on the vibe not being very welcoming, and most of the staff seeming judgmental. At least some of them seemed willing to hide that judgement though. Never going back where I’m not welcome and especially not for Karaoke.

I just had the worst experience I have ever had singing karaoke at a bar. This was 11/21, noting that because I do not know the guys name but I want him to be identifiable. I put in the song RAP God. Part way into the song the KJ cut mic and said we are done for the night. I asked why and he said we don’t do those slurs. I said that’s fine, but if it’s a problem then you shouldn’t have it in your catalog. He said well I didnt expect you to use those words. I said well those are the lyrics to the song, so if it’s a problem I would expect you to vet the songs better. He then said, “Well I expect you not to be a shit head” I said well if youre personally offended then don’t punish everyone else who has songs in the queue. He then walked away. This is a 100% accurate representation of what happened and what was said. No paraphrasing. It was extremely embarrassing and incredibly unprofessional to speak to a patron in that manner. I’ve gone there for about 12 years now and I will not be back.

I was at the bar the night of 11/21 during karaoke, and the description provided by another reviewer is absolutely accurate. The KJ cut the singer off mid-song during Rap God by Eminem and said something about “slurs”. The patron told the KJ he’s the one who played the song. The KJ said something about mutual respect and the patron told the KJ he’d expect them to vet the songs and the KJ said they expect him “not to be a shit head”. That’s no way to speak to a patron, no matter your personal feelings on a song. He was there to play the music, not just the songs he likes. He had earlier played the song Crazy Rap which is essentially an entire song about someone having sex with various women of different ethnicities and makes several racial/sexual references, but the KJ found that song acceptable? If they do not want to play that song, they shouldn’t offer it. If they can’t remove it from the catalog, the KJ should’ve came to the patron and told them he wouldn’t play that song. I heard the patron talking to the KJ about singing that song as the patron had multiple songs in the queue and the KJ said he only had enough time for one. So there was plenty of opportunity for the KJ to tell the patron he didn’t want to play the song, rather than embarrass him in front of the bar. This KJ had also already complained to a patron about them putting songs in the queue and told them not to put in anymore because they were going to the top and the KJ had to move them down below other singers who hadn’t sang yet. Isn’t that literally his job? Isn’t that the POINT of the queue? They’re the ones who made the queue virtual/accessible via phone/internet instead of just paper slips. This guy should not be a KJ and has no business in customer service frankly. He made the entire atmosphere uncomfortable that groups of people left the bar immediately after he ended karaoke – which he immediately cut off the entire queue when he cut the song he didn’t like, even though there were other patrons in the queue to sing that he’d explicitly told were going to get to sing. Our group immediately left the bar, leaving unfinished drinks and with a bad taste in our mouth for the bar as a whole. We have come to this bar several times in the past and we’re not sure we’ll come back.

Hidden gem in Salem. (21 and up)

It’s absolutely one of my favorite goto spots for delicious food and great drinks. Corner Pocket serves a great breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner, with daily specials.

Corner Pocket won 3rd Best Beer Selection in the Willamette Valley. They have an incredible selection of beers, craft cocktails, and other libations. I absolutely love their lemon drops. There is also this great smoked hot apple cider I enjoy during the cooler months, which Leslie makes. All of the bartenders, cooks, and owners are fantastic, welcoming, and make each visit memorable in the best way possible.

They offer many events and activities. If you enjoy playing pool, this is a great place to stop by and play. There is free pool until 4 pm daily, trivia on Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays. Special events throughout the year.

We enjoy coming here to spend time with our friends and to meet new friends.

This South Salem hidden gem is so much more than a bar & grill.

It’s time to go enjoy my delicious patty melt and lemon drop.

They have 4 pool you can play with your friends if you want. That’s kinda nice.

Generally I will expect bar would be more dirty or messy, but actually we can see this bar is cleaner than average.

Service are nice and patient too.

Food are normal. If you expect for just food, don’t…

Came here to Karaoke and had a blast!!! There was plenty of space, I didn’t feel crowded, even though there was plenty of people there. They have pool tables, a dance floor and electric dartboard. My friends ordered tater tots and they were decent. The outside area was heated and you can bring your drinks outside. I also really like that they have a security guard posted at the door just outside the Bar. I will most definitely be going back!!

One of the best bars in town hands down. Four pool tables, fun crowds, busy weekends. Great place for karaoke! I would know I am the KJ!

Atmosphere is great, but it’s really crowded. If you like singing karaoke and want to get more than one song in, this isn’t the place.
