My husband ordered carryout. He had heard about it the restaurant on Facebook. The the whole catfish came with homemade fries, beans, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. We also got lots of condiments. Everything was good!

What a fantastic find, this place is sitting inside the first brick building in Avenger. Once the pharmacy and general store for the old South town. The all you can eat catfish fillets were top shelf, it continued with spectacular hush puppies, coleslaw and some of the owners pickled green tomatoes, went home with a pint jar for $7. After a spectacular meal why wouldn’t you go back over to Avenger Station RV with not one but two huge slices of three layer cake. Ended up being a midnight snack with no photos, you will have to visit them to see the cake. Almost forgot had a dozen oysters that appeared to be farmed. Salty, very juicy and totally grit free. Please stop and give the small town and restaurant a little outside infusion.

Best catfish we’ve had in many years. Try the catfish with etouffee. Hush puppies, beans, slaw, fries are great. Shrimp perfectly cooked. Great dessert menu. Employees are friendly. Great atmosphere. Worth the drive from wherever you are.

For a small town restaurant this was great. We were staying at the really nice RV park next door and went on recommendation of friends. It was prom night in town so we called ahead for a reservation. Our waitress was very friendly and suggested my husband NOT get the AYCE catfish since the meals come with so many sides. He decided on the catfish and shrimp and was very pleased with his choice. The beans and tomato relish were both delicious as well. I chose the blackened catfish and it was also very good. The restaurant is BYOB and they did not charge a corkage fee. If you find yourself in Avinger, Corbett’s is certainly worth a visit!

So I’ve passed this place several times on my way to Baton Rouge and back home to Kansas. Every time I pass it it was always packed so I kept on driving cause I don’t like to wait at restaurants if I don’t have to, I mean who does right? I figured that this place had to be good since it was always packed. This trip my wife flew to Baton Rouge and ride back with me to Kansas so I wanted to stop at Corbett’s with her no matter the wait. We arrived around 4:05 pm and there was no cars in the lot so initially I thought they were closed, we walked up to the door and the sign said they opened at 4:00 pm so we were the first customers. We were served with a smile, seated right away obviously lol. The waitress brought our drinks and two side of beans, hush puppy fries, pickled green tomatoes and coke slaw. I am not a fan of tomatoes but my goodness I LOVED those pickled tomatoes…amazing.
I ordered the all you can catfish and my wife ordered the blackened catfish. Both were really good. They originally brought me 6 piece of fish I believe which I was thinking oh yes I will definitely need more. I ate my food which was good and I couldn’t get another round like I had planned. Everything was good. From the service to the food to the scenery and location. I will be timing my trips back from Baton Rouge to try and be at this place at their opening time.

Stopped in on my way through to Houston and really enjoyed it. It’s in a beautiful building in a small, quaint town. I had the swamp platter with fish, gator, and frog legs- it was cooked perfectly. It came with slaw, beans, and delicious hush puppies! I will stop by again when I can!

It was our first time to visit and absolutely LOVED IT! We will be back! The Catfish superb! Fries good! Hushpuppies… don’t normally eat alot of those but we ate our fair share. Our server was fantastic. She made sure we were good all the time. Thank You Mr. Corbett for a wonderful experience amd eats!
