I am super particular about my BBQ, and even belong to a little bbq group, and this was top notch. By far, the ribs were the best. But brisket was amazing and chicken too. I don’t like smoked turkey in general – but I likes THEIR smoked turkey. They were all super nice and seemed excited about their food – which showed in the quality of their food. 5/5 for sure – I highly recommend

We stopped here on the way to Melbourne because of the reviews. The man serving meats was very personable. I got the brisket sandwich with the fries. My husband got the pork platter. The fries in the pan were soggy and not warm. My husband got fresh ones and I asked if I could get some of those but the woman said I couldn’t. As it turned out those got cool and soggy fast anyway. None of the food was hot. As another poster said, the sides aren’t that great. The baked beans were good but very seasoned. I could only eat as much as seen in the photo. The brisket did indeed melt in my mouth, but that’s because there’s about a third fat in it. That did make it very tasty but I cut out the fat, which you can see in the picture. The pork was good but oily. They didn’t tell us that unlike every other restaurant they charge for water cups. The sauces were odd and not clear what it was. The vibe is cute.

Nice bbq place in the old theatre ……we had the brisket sandwiches with Mac-n-cheese . It was a bit pricey but good and juicy. Staff was friendly and place was clean. I will come back again…..Enjoy the Day! 1 ❤️ ✌ !!!

The staff greeted me warmly, picked up right away that I was a first-timer, and walked me through the menu with some helpful suggestions. I went with the beef ribs, tallow fries, and potato salad for sides. The pitmaster sliced me the end cut of the rib, which had me pumped—I knew it was going to hit. And it did. Solid 8.7 on the Big Daddy scale. This is definitely a spot I’ll be talking about in the future.

Food was old school country barbecue and every single thing I had was outstanding! If I have to nitpick I can only come up with two negatives, 1.the Tallow fries while delicious were extremely salty they should really lay off the salt and let you do it yourself and secondly they don’t sell beer

What a fun and flavorful experience! Coot’s BBQ took over an old movie theater, and they’ve turned it into a western-style BBQ joint with serious character. From the giant cow statues on the roof to the cowboy murals and neon signs, the vibe is both quirky and nostalgic.
The brisket? Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Perfectly smoked with that classic bark and just the right amount of juiciness. I also tried the corn and black bean salad—fresh, flavorful, and a great side to cut through the richness of the meat.
One of the coolest parts? While you dine, they play old westerns on the big screen—such a unique throwback to the building’s roots as a theater. Between the smoky aroma from the outdoor pit, the rustic decor, and the cowboy cartoons on the walls, this place is a whole experience.
If you’re passing through Okeechobee or just craving some legit BBQ, Coot’s is 100% worth the stop.

Excellent food! Brisket was fabulous and the black bean salad was crisp and delicious! Friendly service and a wonderful down home atmosphere. I love how they have a slide show of Old Okeechobee showing as you enjoy your food. Highly recommend!

We finally decided to try the place because we are finally seeing people go to the establishment so we figured ok our food should be hot and fresh – WRONG. My first impression walking in was they did really nice remodeling the front part of the old theater and making it into a restaurant. Love the decor ❤️. We were greeted right away by the friendly young lady at the counter and the young man that was cooking. I ordered the special of the day which was the pulled pork sandwich with fries for $8.99. My boyfriend ordered the same thing. We placed our order and of course asked about their side items and other yummy looking items they had for sale that day like the BBQ Pork or Brisket Twinkies. We chose not to order the French fries because they look like they had been sitting in the food display window for awhile and they said they would not make us fresh fries when we asked. They brag about their tallow fries but can’t keep them fresh or cook them as ordered . Instead I ordered the potato salad which was good and my boyfriend ordered the mac & cheese which was barely warm. The girl did good by asking us if we wanted to try the banana pudding too and heck yeah why not . We sat down to eat our food and it was good but not hot at all. The Texas toast the pork came on was fresh and hot compared to the temperature of the other items. I did love the taste of the pickles and pickled onions they have on the side for your sandwich – it really tasted good putting them on the sandwich. Good flavor combination. We had asked for water to drink as we do not drink soda or tea and we’re told it is $1.50 per cup of water ♀️. STINGY STINGY STINGY is all I have to say about the owners of this place. We were not the only customers that day to complain about that. The owners obviously value their water more than their customers. I felt bad for the girl at the counter because she said another one of their customers earlier that day said the same thing I did and refused to come back and I don’t blame them. I asked her if she has mention this issues to her boss or owners and she said yes but the don’t listen to their concerns. I could tell this poor girl was not valued there as an employee and part of the company . It was our first and our last time coming to this establishment.
