I love the dark, Irish pub feel. Felt like I was back in the UK. There was only a single bartender, but he seemed to get the drinks out quickly. You order at the counter, and it’s cash only. There’s an ATM available in case you’re not carrying any. Luckily, our friend had some cash. Seems like it’s a much-loved neighborhood dive! Will remember to bring cash next time.

We have not been here, but the staff is welcoming and accommodating. The service is outstanding. We come here to have drinks every Monday evening and it is without fail consistent and really cool. Of course, as the name may, it is an Irish pub or tavern if you will and caters to Irish beers and drinks. They have a peril for sale that is top-notch not some cheesy thing to take your money. Just a really fun time a fun place to go to stop in and have a few and I suppose if you’re really hungry, you could eat there too. We just haven’t done it yet.

My husband and I love stopping by Cooney’s on our date nights to enjoy their (free!) darts and good drinks. The bartender is always very professional and friendly and the atmosphere is that of a nice Irish pub/ elevated dive. The setup inside with the dart lane and other cozy seating is nice for a date night. This is easily our favorite bar in the Urbandale area and when you’re there, you can sense there are a lot of regulars and it is a well-loved staple on Beaver!

Cooney’s feels like an Irish Pub should feel. Joe is a great guy and takes good care of his patrons. Excellent selection of beer and ale, wine, and spirits. No food but you can bring in food. Note cash only; no cards accepted for payment.
