Cooks Seafood Restaurant and Market in Pleasanton did not disappoint. I had the Cod n Prawn with Chips—everything was incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection with a light, housemade batter, and served hot and fast. The chips were large and plentiful. My partner ordered the 10-piece Prawn n Chips and agreed it was delicious. We also shared the focaccia with crab on top, which honestly could’ve been a meal on its own and was perfectly cooked. So glad this place finally opened—great fish and a quality seafood market close by.

Mom told me about this place so I had to try it on my way through town. So glad I did. Hardly anyone here on a wet winter evening. They greeted me and when I ordered some more stuff and had a question about a la carte oysters they were very helpful.
Chowder was just about perfect, and I grew up on this living in Santa Cruz. Oysters were also excellent, tasting fresh and flavorful. Finallly the cod fish and chips were just about the best I’ve had so I’ve got to say I’m impressed. Prices were surprisingly low for the good quality.
Hats off to these guys and I’ll have to come back when I’m next in the area. Highly recommend

This was our second visit and our experience was much better! Our first visit was during the soft opening and food took forever and was average in taste. However, we decided to give it a second chance today and we are glad we did. We came on Saturday during lunchtime and it was not packed. The food arrived pretty quickly and hot. Service was perfect and they even came to check up on us mid-meal.
The clam chowder is delicious and packed with seafood. I’m glad we have something this good in proximity to satisfy my clam chowder cravings!
I also got the fettuccine Alfredo with crab. It is pricey at $30, but there were a lot of crab chunks and it definitely satisfied my Alfredo cravings. I would get this again.
We also got three different tacos. The grilled fish and battered fish are both delicious. However, the shrimp taco came with three small shrimps which was disappointing. When eating tacos, you expect every bite to have some protein but that wasn’t the case with the shrimp one.
Overall, I’ll be a continuous customer!

This is the second time going in to Cook’s Seafood and having another amazing experience. Ordered the 3 piece Cod with chips and she ordered the Snapper special. Both came out fantastic. The Cod was thick and fresh with an amazing batter that was crunchy yet still allowed the fish to be perfect inside and hers was a grilled snapper over rice that just was cooked perfectly and came with mixed veg. Mosses, the Head Chef, came tableside to get feedback for the kitchen and to provide his thoughts on what he wanted to serve and the quality he wanted to keep. I love this chefs thinking and will bring my friends here because of the passion I heard in his voice. He served patrons in the dining room a slice of his new garlic cheesy crab bread which was off the charts great and would make an amazing appetizer or go along with the salads. If you’re looking for a great fresh seafood meal I can honestly say that this will be one of my first choices for the Tri valley.. YES its a walk up counter, but who cares when the food is this good!!

Noting that there are two establishments here on Google even though they are the same despite different reviews.
We had Cook’s today and it was pretty good! The atmosphere was chill and the staff were very friendly; let me sample some of their craft beers which is always appreciated. We ordered the shrimp & crab louie (our favorite out of everything) , clam chowder, and combo fish/shrimp & chips. Overall everything was good and I felt the price point was fair – my only feedback is that the battered fish and shrimp is very thick and cake-y. Some may like this, but I personally prefer a flaky light batter that focuses more on the seafood (the batter just peeled right off). Also, the shrimp was not cleaned well. I would return again but wouldn’t try any battered seafood again unless they backed off on the batter and also cleaned their shrimp better.

I went there two days ago for the first time, and I thought it was great! It was very clean. It was before 5pm so it wasn’t crowded yet. I ordered cod fish and chips. It was delicious. I am fortunate that one piece of fish and many delicious steak fries fills me up at $9.99 They change the oil every day so it is very fresh tasting and not greasy at all. Delicious steak fries and a water dispenser sitting there with cups, so don’t even need to ask for a cup. Water nice and cold. Very friendly Management making sure everything is good with all the customers. I mixed ketchup in with my tartar sauce, so it is sweet like a 1000 island dressing Can’t wait to go back and try the clam chowder soup.

This restaurant is fantastic. The service is outstanding. The people really care about food quality, friendly and attentive service, good portions, and extremely clean restaurant and restrooms. We enjoyed our interactions, and the food was delicious and plentiful. Super fresh crab, fish. Big menu with chowder, cioppino, fish&chips, fish tacos grilled or battered, grilled fish plates, seafood salads. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and we will be back frequently. It’s rare and refreshing to find a staff with such dedication to quality and detail, hard work and friendliness. They made sure we enjoyed our meals. Thank you all!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Fantastic Seafood Experience!
Cook’s in Pleasanton is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-tier, and a huge shout-out to the manager, Moises — phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cover it. He was personable, funny, welcoming, and made us feel genuinely cared for, not just “served.”
My husband ordered the snapper and loved it — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. I ordered a fettuccine pasta with crab meat (instead of the usual chicken or shrimp), and wow… the crab was incredibly fresh and delicious. What really stood out was that Moises brought me a sample of the crab meat before the dish came out. That small gesture made a big impression and honestly made me even more excited for the meal.
Everything was flavorful, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. The service, the food, and the overall vibe were outstanding. We’ll absolutely be back — Cook’s has officially earned a permanent spot on our favorites list.
Highly recommend!

We’re grateful to have this establishment near the office. The latest and my new new favorite item is the cheesy crab bread. Simply divine. Moises and team are most welcoming. I also enjoy the crab cakes and my coworker from Connecticut gives the fish and chips high praise! Thanks, guys.

The food and service definitely did not disappoint. I finally tried Cooks today for the first time because I was craving some good fish and chips, and when I tell you the portions of fish and chips I received surprised me, I was thoroughly surprised and fully satisfied! Perfect crispiness, perfect flavor and the tarter sauce was thick and creamy to top it off! I definitely will return. Also, I cannot forgot the chef Moses, thank you for coming out and greeting us and making our visit even more welcoming, and you were right..we definitely enjoyed and will be back!
