Overall a good dining experience. Went based off review and oddly we were the only ones there on a Friday night.

Staff were friendly and attentive. Atmosphere and vibes inside were great.

For food we ordered the

scallion pancake (9/10)
chicken egg rolls (9/10)
spicy wontons (2/10) – this is apparently the most popular, we thought the broth and spice was good but the pork tasted sour than savory/umami
green beans (5/10)
mamas dumpling (8/10) – wish we ordered steamed instead of fried
shrimp dumpling (6/10) – not much soup inside
mala potato fries (6/10)
general tsos chicken (7/10) – chicken was hard/overcooked
house milk tea (10/10) – only leftover we took home

Overall food was mid or a bit above it at most. It was worth a try for us but definitely not convinced to come back especially with parking fee.

Parking is at the garage and costs $22 for an hour and the restaurant does not validate parking.

Services First
There is a dead fly inside the rice we ate! if there is 0 I will rate 0! The customer service is bad for this resolution. My kid almost ate the dead fly hided in the rice and told us the issue. When we reported this to the waitress, she acted like as usual cases and not even feel any apology. Cooking girl did not immediately replaced the dishes or waived any fees as they stated in their response. The face is: The waitress, without saying even a sorry and with a face telling that this type of issue happens often and normal. Cooking girl solution is only replace our table rice bowl, and still keep the cooked rice from the same cooker container source to serve other customers. Even the current cooked rice source has already been found flies pollution. The waitress asked us to choose two options: 1. Replace dishes or 2. Give you a discount. When we chose a discount as we are running out of time for an appointment. Waitress said ok we give you 20% off. Their review response to this issue additionally shown that they do not think this is a problem for customers’ health and they do not feel any sorry or responsibility about this case. Attached photo is an image just for reference about the fly. The real case is that the fly is already dead in the rice.

Sudden craving for Chinese food in downtown, and Cooking Girl was just around the corner. There wasn’t a big lunch time crowd, so there wasn’t any waiting time.

I had the 3 soup dumplings for appetizer. The dumpling skin was thin, and the meat inside was well seasoned. There was plenty of soup in the dumplings too. I would repeat this dish many times. The sweet sour fish was crispy, and the black pepper beef was tender. However, both sauces were a little lacking. The sauce for the fish dish lacked the sour flavor. The sauce for the beef dish was a tad too salty.

The restaurant is bright, clean, and inviting. I would come back to try other dishes.

Ordered take-out from here for a late night Chinese food craving. Overall order came out pretty good. We ordered the sesame chicken, pork buns, and combination fried rice. The sesame chicken was a little sweet for my taste but flavor is still pretty good. The chicken was cooked well, not hard or soggy if you know what I mean. The pork buns were okay, only complaint is there was an overwhelming amount of ginger, I could barely taste the pork and the rest of the seasoning. But the bun itself was cooked nicely, doesn’t taste stale or soggy, had the right amount of bounce to it. The fried rice was excellent! The rice was perfect, not hard or chewy, just right. We picked up our order so there wasn’t any service but based off of reviews, there weren’t complaints about service, and walking in for pick up, it looked like cottage vibes but like I said, we ordered take out so we didn’t have the sit-in experience. I see this is a franchise and if we are in town again, we would definitely try this spot again. Check this place out! Till then, let’s eat!!!!

I had a great meal here. Everything was delicious – the home made passion fruit tea, the Sichuan buns, and the Sichuan beef. This is what I wish a Sichuan beef would be everywhere I go! A little spicy, a little numbing, great texture, lots of onions, garlic and chilies, nothing overcooked. The Sichuan buns beef was not what I expected, even better. The flavor was more like a brisket than a ground beef? So good! The staff here were friendly.

Authentic Chinese food with a great location right in the heart of downtown – wow, it’s more than amazing! We tried the Walnut Shrimp and Cumin Lamb, and both were delicious. My friend and I came in on a Friday night and were seated within a comfortable amount of time. Elizabeth, our server, was so sweet and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back! The manager on site also came by to check on our table, which felt personal and thoughtful.

Visited for the first time after a Dyanmo game late at night. It was right before closing and they were nice enough to let us come in and enjoy a late dinner. Food hit the spot, service was great, and prices are fair.

I would eat the food here often if I was closer. If you like Chinese food this place will not disappoint.

If I could give Cooking Girl more than 5 stars, I would.

We’d only gotten it to go and it was pretty good.

We finally had the chance to dine in and OMG. Impeccable.

We had the bao pork buns, the cheese filled pastries (forgot the name), and the shrimp walnut w/ broccoli. Superb.

The servers were incredibly attentive and patient.

Not only did they offer a high chair, they had reusable, baby friendly cutlery (!).

We live across the street and will definitely add this place to our rotation of local places we frequent.

My coworker introduced me to Cooking Girl, and I stopped by for lunch today. It was my first time there. I like hot and spicy dishes so the staff recommended the Sichuan Beef. It was amazing! Flavorful, tender, and had just the right level of spice. The environment was clean and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. Lovely lunch spot !! I saw they also have milk tea, I’ll definitely be back to try.
