I really enjoyed this restaurant when it came to cville, but last 3 times I’ve been so disappointed. Tonight I decided well mabey I’ll try one more time making it my last after tonight . I get my order look in the box and I have 4 of the littlest onion rings like I could fit on my pinky finger . I ask the girl at the window ummm I asked for onions rings and I told her thats not a onion ring , she get manager, and i tell her the same then she tells me they were out of big onion rings and that is what they have . When she seen i wasn’t having that answer. she then decided she would fix this and just like that normal size onion rings appeared . So a whole lie from this manager. Even went as far as to pull the little ones out of my meal to make sure I didn’t get over 4 onion rings cause I’m told that’s what u get 4 onion rings . So I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Just want what I pay for .

Good burgers; better than typical fast food places. Burgers are really small. Make sure to add all the fixings, otherwise it’s just a burger and a bun. The onion rings are great. Best milkshakes in Kentucky!

Husband ordered burger with fries and slaw, then got a cup of chili. The cup is maybe 4 oz and it wasn’t even filled up halfway and they charged $1.30 for only two bites of chili. His and his mom’s slaw was in same size cup and it wasn’t even halfway full either. Then he went and ordered us a shake and they only have one size and they charged $3.99 a piece for them. We definitely will not go back to Cook Out restaurant.

Edit a year later: I was just served a chicken tender that was torn in half and I was given just one half of it

Let me start by saying I only come here at night so hopefully the day shift is better but the night crew needs to be replaced.
A couple months ago I would have rated this place 5 stars but it’s going downhill quickly. When I place my order at the speaker I always have to repeat myself 2 or 3 times and sometimes they still don’t get the order right. The chicken tenders are tiny now. They used to be longer than my hand and now it’s just a chunk of meat that’s smaller than the palm of my hand. The Cajun fries are just plain fries with Cajun dumped on top. The wraps are never actually wrapped, just kind of folded and smushed in the foil wrap. If you order onion rings with a tray you get 4 onion rings. 5 if you’re lucky. The burgers are made terribly. The patties are so small on the “big double burger” that it looks like one patty. And the toppings are never put on evenly. One side of the burger will be condiments and lettuce and the other side will have all the pickles, tomatoes, etc. I don’t even understand how that happens. Not to mention the attitude of the staff. They are very unprofessional. They look like they’re putting more effort into flirting with each other or trying to look “cool” than actually doing their jobs. The second the take your card or hand you food they slam the window shut so whenever I ask for sauce like ranch or ketchup I have to sit there and wait and stare at them through the window to get them to ask me what I need.

We stopped here today and I’m sorry to say that this was the worst milkshake I have ever had. I ordered the Peanut Butter Banana shake which is my favorite…I ordered that at every cookout we stop at. Whoever prepared it simply did not care. Huge pieces of banana in it and all
Of the peanut butter was caked at the bottom of the cup. The consistency was not right either. The taste was awful. Never again will I stop and eat at this location.

Food was good and Employees were friendly. Be patient with the young lady running register she is learning. Dining area was clean. Some customers were rude but that’s life.

Place used to be good until they started treating portions like it comes out of their own paycheck. They dont properly season the fries either just dump a bunch on top of them and call it a day..

My family went today on Independence Day, 2024, during an obvious slow business time. Most people in the county were doing their town activities (half the city alone was at the park, this was around 7pm) so the drive thru wasn’t terrible and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. When we went in, there was a family or two and a couple of kids.
I’m giving three stars (i’d leave 3.5 if possible) because I’ve ate here for years, especially when I was in college, and I got a jr. chicken quesadilla tray every single time I went without fail. I LOVE cookout’s chicken quesadilla trays. I also always get onion rings with cookout sauce. Never had a complaint until today…
Anyway, the cooks for sure weren’t aware of this, but I’m currently pregnant. And I got my usual Jr. tray of a chicken quesadilla, onion rings, and cajun fries. When my quesadilla came out, it was an oily brown shade (usually it’s a toasty beige with your typical toasted spots) and part of the cheese and chicken were crusted outside of the tortilla, but it was crusted in a wet/pasty way… I was a bit suspicious about this but the tin foil was hot to the touch so I went with it. When I picked it up, it was a bit mushy and cold in the middle. I tried to eat it but ended up tearing the ends off and just eating scraps of the hot parts. I didn’t finish my sides because touching and eating that made me sick to my stomach. I initially wasn’t going to complain, because it’s a holiday, but I ended up getting sick off it on the way home and it was just a mess. Back on the topic of the appearance of the food, there were also several black specks on and in my food and on my sibling’s tortilla. So leads me to believe the grill hadn’t been cleaned prior to preparing our food. I have worked a fast food grill before, and know what it’s supposed to look like. I should’ve complained at the restaurant, but again I didn’t think I was going to get sick and I didn’t want to make a fuss on a holiday when things are already hard for those working. Prior to this, I would’ve given Cookout a 4 star review at best but my opinion’s gone down since this incident occurred. These cooks don’t know who their customers are and if someone else genuinely got sick and something happened it would be a flat out mess. It was also extremely cold in there and one of my family members had to go get a sweater… It’s July in Kentucky.

Some of the fastest (and cheapest) food in Columbia, and the food is pretty good. A large variety of meals and the trays are incredibly cheap. The service is always great, and you never have to wait more than a few minutes maximum to get in and out of the drive through. Have been coming here since they opened and have never had a negative experience.
