My wife and I decided to stop here on our way to Boone to see our daughter. I have never had a bad experience at Cookout until now. The food came out quickly so we were happy as we were on a schedule. First, we opened the box with my sandwich and fries in it and there was only a small pile of fries in the box. I went back to the counter and told the girl that we didn’t receive two fries as we had ordered two. She snottily said that they put both fries in the same box. I informed her that what we received was not even one orders worth of fries and she told me there was nothing she could do. WOW! My wife got the chicken quesadilla and after a couple of bites she looked at me and said the chicken was awful. She opened the quesadilla and the chicken was burnt black all the way through. Any employee that would give that to a customer deserves to be fired. I offered to get her another one but she said it would take too long and we had already been told off by the counter staff. I will not be back there and they really need to look at how they do business and treat customers. There are many other options within a very short distance. We didn’t go to the nearby Chick-Fil-A as it was Sunday.

On our travel home from Boone NC, we were initially excited to encounter an eat in/sit down Cook Out restaurant. However, that excitement was quickly drained, and our patience was sorely tested by the glacially slow meal preparation. My Cajun chicken was much smaller than what I have received at competitors as well as other Cook Out locations.
The food was as expected, but the wait for it (well over 15 minutes) was totally unexpected.
I will skip this restaurant in the future!
8/2025 my son wanted something for a late dinner from here. They sorely disappointed me again. About 1/3 of the Cajun fries were burnt. Of course ordering and receiving the food via drive thru, I didn’t notice the unpalatable fries until we were miles away.
This is the only Cookout location where I have consistently been very disappointed in both the food AND the service.

OK, so I guess Cook Out had just cratered in regards to food quality. My “big double” had two tiny, misshapen patties that looked like boomerangs. They dis not even cover the bun. It was a far cry from big. Had it not been pouring rain I would have gone in for a refund. I won’t be going back.

I’d give them a 0 for my service today if I could. First there was no one in line so just keep that in mind. I told the person taking the order in the drive thru what I wanted. She repeated it back to me multiple times. There was no bacon on my sandwich and the Pattie’s were so tiny it was worse than McDonald’s. My chicken sandwich had tomato and the butt of the lettuce on it and it was dry. I ordered hot dogs and didn’t even get them. Asked for extra cheese on my cheese fries and it cover 4 fries. This is insane!

My order was fairly simple but once again, they could not pull it off. Good food but if management cant or wont fix the problem, I will not be sad to see the place go out of business. Can’t wait for Hwy 55.

Girl operating drive thru seemed to struggle with order accuracy. Kept repeating things. It took forever to get thru line. Ok. A week earlier, I ordered a “Cheddar” style burger but when I got home with it it was a “Carolina” style. So when I got home after this visit, to my surprise, the order was correct. However, check out the large fry! There were no stragglers in the bag. This was it. All of them. SMH
