I strode boldly to the counter, ready to test my might against the whirlwind pace of their ordering system. Outside, the drive-thru roared like a dragon, busy and relentless, yet inside, the staff moved with the flawless unity of a battle-hardened guild.
Before my family could even finish casting their orders, half of mine had already been summoned onto trays before me. Ten trays in under ten minutes—surely a record worthy of song!
The workers weren’t just employees; they were a pit crew of champions, their coordination sharp as swordplay, their voices weaving together in perfect communication. It wasn’t just service—it was strategy, discipline, and a touch of magic.
Truly, this was no ordinary meal. This was a performance of speed, precision, and mastery—fit for a tale told by travelers far and wide.
Out of 10 times I’ve came here I’ve had to go back through the line 6 times. The make me feel like fixing my order is my fault. I won’t be going back.
I visited this Cook Out location around 2 AM on Sunday night / Monday morning (October 6th) and had an unacceptable experience with the three female employees working the shift.
From the very beginning, the service was poor. While placing my order, the employee at the window cut me off three different times, responded with “what?” in a rude tone, and when she handed me the food, she shut the window in my face without saying a word. I had to wave through the window just to say thank you and confirm that we had everything, because there was no verbal interaction or acknowledgment at all.
When we checked our food, both the sandwich and sides were wrong. We returned politely to ask for the correct items, but the employees laughed at us, made comments under their breath (loud enough for us to hear), and showed no professionalism.
Instead of remaking the sandwich, they simply removed the ingredients I am allergic to and handed the same one back. This is not only careless but also a serious food safety concern.
They did not replace the incorrect sides — they just removed them from the bag and never gave us the correct ones. Later, I had to return a third time to pick up the fries that were supposed to come with the order. Because we had eaten two hush puppies while waiting (after multiple trips back and forth), I was told I needed to pay again for the correct side. I paid, but the employees continued to laugh and make disrespectful remarks as I did so.
It’s not the end of the world — mistakes happen — but as a fellow business owner, I know how hard it is to find good staff. Still, if my employees ever acted this way toward a customer, I would absolutely want to know about it.
To the owner/manager: this location clearly needs attention. Cook Out is usually busy at that hour, but this one was nearly empty — and now I understand why. The staff on duty that night were unprofessional, dismissive, and turned what should have been a quick late-night meal into a genuinely unpleasant experience.
After reading other reviews, it seems like the day staff does a great job, but the night crew really needs some work. They come across as having a pack mentality, where the customers are the prey. I understand they may feel the need to flex the small amount of power they have in the only way available to them — but unfortunately, it’s the owner who ends up paying the price, as I know firsthand from having employees who sometimes fall short of expectations.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. As you can tell by looking at my account, I’ve never left a bad review before, and I wouldn’t be doing so now unless I felt strongly about the situation.
As far as the food, burgers and tea were well done and on point. The hush puppies were passable, but the fries were a bit of a let down.
All in all, a very wonderful visit and worth a repeat visit.
