Solid food, amazing service and a cute spot in the Design District.

The food was great. With one exception, I wouldn’t say that I was wow’ed by anything, but at the same time, the dishes did not disappoint. The exception: the meatballs, which were PHENOMENAL! I’d def return and would want to try more items, so – for now – I’ve reserved one star on food quality.

Pictured is the squash carpaccip, capellini (without lobster), meatballs and the lamb chops.

Service was impeccable, and the ambience was truly enjoyable.

Contessa Miami is an amazing addition to the Design District dining scene. Inspired by the grand trattorias of Northern Italy, the space brings a polished, Milanese feel with its marble floors, chandeliers, and warm, elegant atmosphere combined with Miami flair (pastel pinks and deep green tones). It’s lively without being overwhelming, and the setting complements the concept perfectly.

The food is consistently excellent. The pastas are a standout (the Bolognese is a must try) and my fish was cooked perfectly (buttery and soft). Portions are generous, and presentation is clean and refined.

The staff is excellent here, and we were thrilled to get several deserts and apps on house as part of our anniversary celebration. Service is warm and attentive making for a relaxed and lovely meal.

Easily one of the best Italian restaurants within the Design District!

Contessa Miami was a wonderful brunch experience. We loved the outdoor seating. Bright, relaxed, and perfect for a Saturday morning. The arugula and fig salad with goat cheese was beautifully balanced, and the rigatoni was amazing. We finished with crème anglaise and a latte. Elegant food, great atmosphere, and a place to which we’d gladly return.

I really enjoyed my experience at Contessa. The food is absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, and you can tell they pay attention to quality.

The service was quick and attentive, and the atmosphere is beautiful and inviting — definitely a great spot for a nice dinner. The prices feel fair for the experience you get.

Overall, it’s a place you really can’t go wrong with. I’ll definitely be back.

Went to Contessa for the first time and I’m not exaggerating — food is legit 10/10. I love octopus and their dish absolutely crushed it. Everything we had was on point. The kitchen is doing something right.

But the real reason I’m writing this review is Raymond.

From the second we sat down at the bar, he made us feel at home. Not fake-friendly. Not robotic. Just sharp, attentive, and genuinely invested in us having a great night. He helped us navigate the menu, double-checked what we liked, and his suggestions absolutely smashed.

What really stood out though were the little things. He literally took the time to grate enough Parmesan so the lady I was with had plenty (and didn’t have to awkwardly ask for more). Our champagne came exactly when it should have. Sparkling water was never empty. Drinks were always full. He was always a step ahead without hovering.

And most importantly, he made sure she was having the time of her life. That level of awareness and care? Rare.

Contessa is already great because the food is great. But Raymond is what makes it next level. If you go, sit at the bar and let him run your night.

That’s a guaranteed 10/10.

Beautiful vibes, upon walking in it felt like we were transported elsewhere. Service was fast, staff super personable (shoutout to Christopher) and the food was thoughtfully prepared. If you like Carbone (same owner) you’ll like Contessa!
Can’t wait to go back

Not sure why they only have 4 stars. I’m a big foodie and very picky with high-end dining. I can tell you that Contessa nails it on both food and service. It’s a must-go for my wife and I every time we visit the Design District. Beef carpaccio, squash carpaccio, branzino, all the pastas are amazing. Atmosphere is great too with cool retro latin tunes.

Beautiful restaurant with Miami cool vibe. Small menu but some really good options. Food was very flavorful, smallish portions. Full bar and excellent service. Great location amongst the high end shops.

Came here for dinner – beautiful decor, but the food was just okay. Our server wasn’t very engaging & was forgetful which was disappointing. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a pasta and the branzino, then decided to try the Nutella chocolate cake for dessert, which arrived with a “congratulations” sign on it (we weren’t celebrating anything – harmless, but a bit humorous). Overall, I don’t think I’d return for the dining experience – possibly just for a drink at the bar.

Came across Contessa on our walk at design district. Love the interior design of the location. They have lunch special ($49 for 3 course meal) which caught our interest. I got burrata salad which was amazing. I also ordered the lobster pasta (extra $12 fee, also they considered the sauce pink) and was pretty upset that I was told they cannot do light red sauce on it while I heard the table next to me get the same dish without any cream. Ended up not even eating the pasta because it was too red. The avocado and asparagus salad was also good, same with the other pasta. Deserts were amazing.
I would have appreciated being told how red the pasta was bc I left the restaurant still hungry :/
