Reviews
The food itself was flavorful, which makes the rest of this experience even more disappointing. After finishing our meal, we were sitting and chatting when a cockroach appeared at our table. I discreetly informed our waitress, who was clearly mortified and immediately took care of it.
I asked to speak with a manager, and what followed was worse than the roach itself. The man who came over was dismissive, blamed the exterminator – and “apologized” because the previous owners left behind their collection of roaches. He acted as though dining in the presence of cockroaches was normal and even suggested we should be thankful it wasn’t worse. There was no attempt to make things right, no concern for our comfort, and no accountability. His solution? He promised it would be better “next time” as if we would be brave enough to risk our health on a future visit.
Seeing a cockroach in a restaurant is disgusting — but the manager’s attitude was even more so.
The $7, seemingly unseasoned 4 pieces of fried yuca with no sauce was honestly laughable and the catalyst of this review. The papusa now comes with a small ramekin of curtido that could barely be called curtido. Big swing and a miss unfortunately
The star of the meal was undoubtedly the pork sandwich, elevated by a generous slathering of creamy guacamole. The tender, juicy pork paired exquisitely with the rich avocado, creating a mouthwatering combination of textures and flavors.
Accompanying the main course, the fresh fries were a crispy revelation – golden-brown perfection that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. To wash it all down, the horchata provided a cool, refreshing counterpoint to the meal, its sweet cinnamon notes cleansing the palate.
Conga Latin Food delivers an authentic and vibrant dining experience that transports you straight to the heart of Latin America. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving bold, fresh flavors and generous portions.
Pictured:
1. Cebiche with white fish, reasonably priced, fresh, citrusy, and about the kinda fresh of a fish you could get in a landlocked area like Chattanooga. The chips were more than enough, I recommend ordering this to share, I shared it with my alter ego, she loved it; she doesn’t really know too much about fish, unless it’s bad; then she knows.
2. Their classic pupusa, with cheese, beans, and pulled pork. This is the El Salvador dish, and it shows. Possibly one of the best pupusas I’ve ever had; I can’t wait to try all the other types they have. They usually come in orders of two, I got only one; did not share with alter ego; she getting kinda phat.
Alter ego loved the mango salsa and thought the habanero wasn’t that spicy. Her name is Shego btw, because wherever I go, Shego.
Overall:
Food: 4.7/5
Price: 4.9/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Support, eat, and ask for the Mango salsa.
