This was an excellent dinner. We went here on a whim to try something new and it was amazing. The food is incredibly tasty. The wait staff is friendly and interactive with the customers. They are children friendly. The ambiance was good, especially considering they are in a strip mall.

Every time we come to Houston we are eating at Confucius and ordering the Crab rice. It is an unforgettable dish. You want to make sure to put the Crab Rice order in early since it takes longer to cook! Haven’t had the lobster but almost every table had it !

Confucius Seafood Restaurant or Viet Lai is among my top choice for Chinese food, or authentic Cantonese food in particular, in the Houston area. For years they’ve been known for great services, delicious food, generous portions, dining environment, among others. Many people dining there are return customers due to the factors abovementioned. Some of my recommended items include, but are not limited to, lobsters (cooked in a few methods), beef ribs in special sauce, chaise (Gui Fei) chicken and all kinds of clay pots. What’s worth mentioning is that one order of lobster dish has TWO lobsters, not just one.

This place has amazing food. Don’t let the outside scare you. Some of the best tasting Cantonese food I’ve had outside of Canton. Most of the patrons around me all spoke Cantonese so you can tell this place is legit as it gets. The market price crab was delicious though of course, shelled seafood is always a lot of work to open up.

The place looks ok, the duck was so so, the mix seafood in clay had way too much bean curd, but the lobster with black pepper was sooo good. This was the first time I actually get full from eating a lobster dish, the quantity was really good for $36. Would come back for the lobster but won’t reorder the other dishes

My parents absolutely love this place and the food is definitely delicious! The lobster, mushroom and tofu, and pan fried noodles were all fantastic! I think the cleanliness of the utensils, plates, and glasses leave much to be desired. The service is pretty acceptable, but they could be better. It definitely gets really full around dinner time, so you may have to wait for a table if you opt to go around then.

First time at the restaurant and I made a rookie mistake…I ordered 2 of the lobster plates thinking it was like most lobsters that I have ordered from other places….the result….more lobster than I could eat (see pictures). The food was perfectly seasoned and delicious…one lobster plate comes with 2 large lobsters…still good the next day but don’t make my mistake and think that they are puny lobsters..

Bad customer service. The servers are like forced to work. They are extremely rude and talk to you like you do something wrong. My party was 7 people and they let us sit at a big table first hand. While the food was served. The waiter came to us and asked to move to a smaller table because the have a bigger party to serve. They didn’t even bother to help to move the food. My friends and I had to move the food ourselves. When we ordered, the waiter kept recommending their special menu for better price for big party of ten. We did not want the special menu but because we did not want that much food but the waiter kept recommending.
