Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence. Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table. We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new. We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.

Reviews
To be honest, I wasn’t familiar with their dishes, so I was a bit on the fence. However, our server suggested the “Just Feed Me” option. The name sounded fun, so we decided to order it—and it was AMAZING.
We were so full and had a wonderful dinner. I really appreciate the service from the staff. If I visit New Orleans again, I will definitely come back!
I spent this past weekend in New Orleans and couldn’t resist visiting one of my favorite Top Chefs, Nina Compton. Her restaurant is in a welcoming, vibrant location with an inviting atmosphere—perfect for celebrating my friend’s birthday.
What We Ordered
Small Bites
Blackened Pig Ears with Smoked Aioli
Absolutely incredible! It was my cheat day, and this dish was worth every bite—rich, flavorful, and unforgettable.
Entrées
Curried Goat with Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Cashews
This dish was bursting with flavor and reminded me of Jamaica—comforting and bold.
Semolina Dumplings with Gulf Shrimp, Run Down Sauce, and Soft Herbs
My friend ordered this, and I had to try it. The texture of the shrimp was perfect, and the combination of flavors was unlike anything I’ve tasted before. Truly exceptional.
Dessert
Mango Crème Broulee
This was so good.
Both dishes were superb—I highly recommend them.
Service & Experience
Our waitress, originally from Alaska, was incredibly sweet and attentive. She even introduced us to her husband, Larry Miller, who kindly greeted us. The highlight? She arranged for Chef Nina to sign our cookbooks—a perfect cherry on top of an amazing evening.
If you’re in New Orleans, Compère Lapin is a must-visit. You won’t regret it—I’ll definitely be back!
The snapper in particular was on another level perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced flavors, and honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted.
She also mixed an anejo Old Fashioned that was absolute perfection smooth, complex, and dangerously easy to enjoy. Just when I thought the night couldn’t get better, she convinced me to try the bread pudding. Let’s just say it was so good it practically put me to bed.
Between the stellar service, the incredible food, and the relaxed but refined atmosphere, Compère Lapin has set a new bar for me. Can’t recommend it highly enough sit at the bar with Ty and you’ll have a great experience
Prawns were immensely flavorful and perfect. Even got a hot towel afterwards to cleanse my hands. Tuna tartare had flavors that meshed wonderfully with the produce and seasonings. My snapper with the pepper pot was amazing – skin had that crispy exterior and vegetables complimented well. The mango in the creme brûlée shined through and I savored every bite with the berries, mint and coconut sugar on top.
