Ngon!

I consider it to be one of the best places in OC for cơm tấm! Although the restaurant is known for its broken rice dishes, the menu also offers a wide range of other items like vermicelli items and soups.

* Cơm Tấm Tàu Hủ Ky Bò Nướng Dồi: 9/10 – everything was freshly made and the portions were decently sized

Be sure to bring cash because they don’t accept cards or Apple Pay! The prices are a bit high, but the portions are a lot bigger than the other places I’ve been to.

The interior is a bit small, but it is capable of fitting a decent number of tables and customers. The workers are always very nice, and the food comes out almost instantly. Everything is great except for the fact that they’re located in Liberty Square Plaza, which is known for being very packed usually.

One of our favorite places to eat at! ☺️

This restaurant used to have a line out the door when I was last here before the pandemic. It’s still busy but luckily no lines this time when we visited on a weekend for lunch. We were seated and our orders were taken within minutes. They are known for their Com tam (broken rice) dishes so that’s what we ordered.
Funny enough our food took awhile to come out. Portions were large and my pork chop was delicious. Very flavorful and still moist. I was a little disappointed in the Tau hu ky (shrimp mousseline). It was a little plain and oily. The stream pork cake was ok.

Really well done. Com tam is usually a safe choice on any Vietnamese restaurant menu, but this place kicks it up a notch. You know it has to be good when a whole restaurant is named for one specific dish. Even if you don’t want com tam, their other selections are just as good. Service is great.

Good Vietnamese broken rice. Had the vegetable with fried tofu. No soy bases product so no aftertaste. Overall, good flavor food, and very fun and polite service. Restaurant is clean. Price is good.

I’ve visited Com Tam Thanh a couple times with family, and it’s become one of our go-to spots for Vietnamese broken rice. While it doesn’t quite reach the level of the best I’ve had in Vietnam, it’s still very solid by Little Saigon standards, especially for a casual meal.

I usually order the Cơm Tấm Sườn, Chả, Nem, Tàu Hủ Kỳ, and the combination is well-executed. The grilled pork chop (sườn) is flavorful with a light char and tender texture. The egg meatloaf (chả) is moist and seasoned just right. The shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd (tàu hủ kỳ) adds a crispy contrast, and the nem (cured pork roll) has good balance without being overly tangy.

The rice is cooked just right — fluffy but firm enough to support the toppings — and their fish sauce is balanced, not too sweet or diluted. Sides like pickled veggies, lime, and jalapeños are a nice touch for those who want to adjust the heat and acidity.

The atmosphere is simple and clean, and service is efficient. It’s a typical Vietnamese eatery setup — not fancy, but focused on food and speed. Prices are very reasonable for the portion (we usually spend about $10–$20 per person), and the dining room is kept tidy and well-run even during lunch rushes.

Overall: 4.5/5.
Not the most refined experience, but very dependable. For anyone craving a solid plate of com tấm with variety and flavor, this place delivers.

We ordered a broken rice dish and a vermicelli noodle dish.

The broken rice dish was the com Tâm- got the pork with it, along with pork floss and the quiche-like side. I liked how fluffy and buttery the rice and the pork floss was. The pork was good too – sometimes other places would have too much fat on the pork, that it’s not enjoyable to eat – but it was amazing here.

The egg/quiche was ok- great complement to the dish but something was missing.

We really liked how the egg roll in the vermicelli dish was cooked. The beef in this bowl was flavorful.

Both dishes were pretty generous in size. Reasonable pricing as well during these times too

It’s a simple restaurant with little decor. The staff welcomed us right away when we entered. Everyone we encountered were nice and helpful.

Best Com Tam I’ve had because the meat was tender and moist and the price was under $20 per plate! The portion size was enough to feed 2 people (not full, enough to satisfy). They accept card and contactless; HOWEVER, they charge $1 for card purchase under $25. As usual, you would have to go up to cashier and pay. We went when they opened, 20min. and the place was half filled with older people (must mean it’s authentic).

Love the com tam here. Can’t go wrong stopping here for a quick lunch. Com tom here comes with a bowl of soup to help the food go down. The pickled vegies are a nice compliment to the com tam dish. Good service and clean tables.

Food was good. Service was good. I had the Vegetarian rice noodles with Lemongrass Tofu. My mom had the broken rice with chả. We ordered hot tea but it was served in a plastic cup instead of a ceramic mug.

Com tam (broken rice) is great portion and reasonably priced.

I discovered bun vit sao mang (duck noodle soup with young bamboo shoots) today. Came with plenty of ginger sauce and a salad on the side.

I’ve only ever eaten com tam here so the noodle was a pleasant surprise .
