Eat Well Travel Often
Even after reading several mediocre or unhappy reviews and seeing only 3.8 stars, we stopped by Colton’s for an early dinner while passing thru town and craving a steak. 3.8 stars is definitely a fair and accurate assessment. The staff were pleasant… no complaints there. The draft beer in a cold mug was great. But, all of the food was just “okay” to put it nicely.

Service was slow before, but my goodness it got worse. We placed a to go order. When I arrived about 10 min after ordering, the parking lot had about 5 cars and it still took over 30 min. Once we arrived home from the 8 min drive, we sat right away to eat to ice cold meals. I did not expect them to be piping hot, but not super cold. The meals themselves were not of great quality. The salmon and rice had not been seasoned, it was meant to come with a glaze that was not included. We ended up tossing all but two bites. The onion tanglers came as a blooming onion which was burnt on the outside and mostly uncooked ‘stuck together’ on the inside. (I understand that is an issue with that type of dish, so that is why we do not order them.) The top of the salad had frozen pieces of lettuce and was mostly bitter yellow chunks. The other meals were just lack luster, clearly freezer to table with little to no seasoning. Tossing bacon and cheese on everything seems to be the only ‘seasoning’. The best part of the meal for me was the mixed veg I seasoned myself. We pitched over half of the food, when we ordered 2 apps and 4 meals to feed 6.

Marshmallow Madness
I would give them 5 stars for the cheesecake alone. A tower of rich and velvety, light and fluffy cheesecake for $5.99 was an absolute steal. I adventured here for my first ever visit to Colton’s Steak House and Grill, thanks to a $25 gift certificate I won in an email for signing up to be on Colton’s online mailing list. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was calm and light. My server was lovely, her name was Allyson. I was offered peanuts, I accepted. I was then presented with a small silver bucket of peanuts, and another bucket that matched (which was adorable) for the discarded shells. Nice. Hot yeast rolls were presented with butter and honey, they were light and warm and melted in my mouth. The Caesar salad was delicious, I loved the flavor of the dressing. We tried the ribeye steak as well as a sirloin, both were cooked PERFECTLY and genuinely seemed to melt in the mouth like butter. Beautiful light smoky flavors, perfect steak. The grilled shrimp were cooked just right as well, flavorful but a little on the small side. Still delightful. The drinks were mixed beautifully and both tasted outstanding. So I got a beautiful meal with a $25 discount, and wonderful service. They really impressed us, and we’ll definitely be returning for another experience at Colton’s.

The 3.9 stars kinda threw me a little. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The wait staff was very kind and helpful. The food was cooked perfectly, and the selection was good. A lot of Sirloin options. The atmosphere was fun and the building was clean. I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here. Give it a try. I recommend it!

One of Best Steaks I’ve had in a Long time! Cooked perfectly! The bread and salad were Awesome! Unfortunately My baked potato was way over done the skin was so hard and dry wasn’t able to eat much of it, everything else was perfect. Worth the 60 mile drive for us. Also brought home some bread pudding that was Amazing too!

We were traveling and stopped in for dinner with a party of 3. The rolls were great and the dinner salad was good and fresh. One ordered chicken fried chicken with smashed potatoes and a sirloin with salad & baked potato and steak tips with sweet potato and steamed vegetables. Everything was good except the steamed vegetables that came with the dinner. They tasted like they were rotten. The cauliflower and the carrots had the same putrid taste. When we told the waitress we weren’t offered anything to replace it. The manager, Joanie, didn’t come speak to us, but the waitress said the manager would not reduce the ticket for the bad vegetables.

The steaks are over half fat. I don’t mean like marble fat I mean huge amounts of JUST fat. One side of the steak was over cooked and the other side was raw. Yes raw. The veggies were like rubber. The Mac n cheese was very dry and difficult to even eat. I am very disappointed. I took friends there for lunch to have a good steak and it was a complete failure. I spent over $100 and will be going back. I don’t recommend it to anyone I don’t want to hate me that’s for sure.

So there were piles of trash in the dining area. I had to walk over one to get to our table. I took a picture for proof. What was really strange is that the wait staff would walk over the trash is stead of just getting a broom. I ordered the grilled shrimp (also pictured)
Lightly seasoned and grilled, served on a bed of rice pilaf with melted butter. They gave me maybe 1/3 cups is rice and it was undercooked. Shrimp taste like what you might get a friends house for dinner.

The rasberry tea was the best. My server was very good also i think i had 4 of these teas. I had the smoked prime rib for dinner. I was not impressed by it. The only flavor was around the edge. Was bland and grisley, baked potato was dry. Salad looked like a bag salad, but lots of dressing helped it. If invited back i would however give them a second chance to impress me.
