I stopped by Colton’s Steakhouse & Grill while staying in Kirksville since it was right next to my hotel. I didn’t feel like having steak, so I decided to try their burger instead. I ordered it medium and was told it wouldn’t be overcooked, but it came out more done than I expected. It wasn’t dry, but definitely cooked past medium.
The fries tasted old, kind of like they’d been sitting for a while, so I swapped them out for the house salad instead. The salad was fresh, and the dressing was good.
The best part of the visit was the service. My waitress was super nice, checked in often, and handled everything really well. I appreciated that.
Overall, the service was great, but the kitchen could use a little improvement on the burger and fries. I’d probably give them another try sometime, maybe go for the steak next time around

Was a great experience! We drove down from Oskaloosa Iowa for a date night and it was worth it! I wish I had caught our waitress’ name, she was so sweet. She recommended a Kickin Apple BBQ sauce that was amazing! We left with full bellies and brought home enough food for tomorrow! The Iron Horse root beer was delicious and there were so many things to look at on the walls. The bucket of peanuts was a nice touch! The okra was perfectly cooked and crispy! My husband loved his Caesar salad and loaded smashed potatoes. The rolls were tasty, the whipped butter was delicious and the honey was the perfect topping! I forgot to mention the awesome Trail Potatoes! They were huge and filling! We paid for a lone diner’s dinner as well. 3 meals and drinks for $100 was an amazing deal!

Great staff very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cool and inviting. We where sat immediately. Service was great and fast. We ordered grilled tenderloin sandwich with ceaser salad and a bacon cheese burger with house salad. The salad were quick to get. The house salad with French dressing was ok. The cesear salad better. Neither salad would be considered anything but average. The tenderloin sandwich presented kn a bun with lettuce tomatoes and pickles. The tenderloin was very very thin and over cooked with very little flavor ketchup didn’t help. The pickles where dry and not good. The hamburger came with bun bacon cheese lettuce pickles and onions. The burger looked good and was prepared correctly. The taste was very bland with zero taste. Pickles dry and limp. I could not finish the burger. It’s was not quality at all. The overall experience was 2 stars and the only reason I give any stars is due to great staff. The atmosphere was good. The food was awful!! Not quality at all.

I ordered online for a curbside order. I have done this many times and usually don’t have any problems with the food. I ordered the exact same thing as I always do but didn’t get what I usually get. I ordered a montana burger with Mac and cheese. The meat of the burger was definitely not the same thing I always get. Barely had any bbq sauce on it and didn’t taste like the same sauce as I’ve had in the past. Didn’t have the usual onion tanglers on top of the burger either. Very disappointed in my meal this time.

My husband and I visited Kirksville location on Valentines Day. Even though it was early afternoon, it was busy and steady. We had to wait less than 10 minutes to be seated. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating; brought refills before we had to ask. The food was cooked and presented as we had requested (and Delicious!). Great experience from check in to check out. We highly recommend

Normally enjoy the food. My 25 steak came out very undercooked and over seasoned. I don’t normally send things back but the server offered. What was returned to me was the same steak burned to a crisp on the outside. I didn’t eat it, server asked and I told her only to be told the manager was the one cooking. He needs some training to work in a steakhouse.

Was not a good visit , we got seated …waited for water,our server had 2 big tables so I am watching her go between those 2tables and pretty much forgot about us…waited 45min or more for the food, ask for a Mgr…he came to the table and then the food shows up, was just about to leave because I ask for some more chips for our cheese dip and never got it so while I was waiting the food was getting colder and colder while I’m steady watching her go from table to table,I know those were the money tables since they were both more than six people but we still wanted the same treatand it just wasn’t there,she never checked back on the table at all… the Mgr was great Kudos…he smoothed everything over took ownership of the situation and I wanted to thank him again because I was really upset,I eat out dining a lot and I go out for service so good job to the Mgr sorry I don’t remember the name but you know who you are..thanks

This restaurant feels like a knock off of Texas Roadhouse, but definitely not comparable. Steaks were cooked properly, but the quality of the meat was not good. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes out of a box. It was our first time visiting, so wasn’t sure what to do with the bottle of syrup or whatever it was. The onion rings were good, but the sauce tasted like mustard and ketchup mixed together. Not good tasting at all. The service was mediocre. The waitress was definitely not thrilled with her job or being there. Visited the restroom on the way out and disappointed as well. Seems like air fresheners in various places was used to try to cover up odors, but the bathroom was not overly clean. We definitely will not be back.
