Picked this one from google reviews after driving through an overly crowded Sedona. Old town Cottonwood is great and balanced. Not overboard. Still cute.
Colt Grill is an order first, pay separately at the bar and find a place to sit in or out and then enjoy your meal. The sandwiches were a meal unto themselves. Sides are separate.
My traveling partner got the Jalapeño cream cheese burger and I got the brisket sandwich and we split a large order of seasoned fries.
The barbecue sauce bar should not be missed and for one visit there are too many to try out but take a pick and come back if you can. This place is worth a second visit.
One review here says “a local recommended it” and I can see why. Enjoy it and then take a walk up and down old town Main Street. A great place to be here and now.

This is a small place. While it is a sit-down and eat place, there is no table service. We ordered quite a bit of food, and it was priced fairly. The passion fruit margarita tasted pretty weak. Very little alcohol and the ice took up a lot of room. I was pretty disappointed. Our family didn’t care for the garlic fries. The sampler Platter is big enough to share and still have leftovers. There are tons of sauces to choose from from sweet to spicy ! While the cornbread was good I’d pass on that price. My mother enjoyed the gluten free bread option. The kids menu is your typical basic menu. We don’t go to cottonwood often but these staff were super nice and talkative. I would have liked a few other healthy options. We ended up taking home left overs and they did not taste great the second time much better fresh. We all enjoyed the decor and tons of souvenirs you can purchase including the bbq sauces !

COLT Grill is a barbecue lover’s dream, with a full rack of ribs so generous it could easily feed two or three hungry diners. The smoky aroma in the air is pure temptation, making it nearly impossible not to order everything on the menu. The indoor and outdoor ambience perfectly complements the setting, creating a relaxed and inviting dining experience. Service was outstanding—every staff member was as warm and welcoming as the food itself. My waistline is relieved they don’t have a location in Rhode Island, but my taste buds are filing a formal complaint!

The service was mediocre. atmosphere was lively, unfortunately after a few bites into my burger, I noticed that one of the hamburger patties was not cooked all the way through. The manager offered to make the burger but I declined. When the cook was told he had no reaction.
Check your order if you prefer a well cooked burger.

Wait in line for a spot and sit down. Look at menu and go order
Lots of gluten free items. Order food. Then a different spot..order drinks. Didn’t like how close to my table people had to walk to get through the place. The food was pretty ordinary. Service was very good. Just about all country music.
Wasn’t something I will go back for…as it just wasn’t that tasty and I didn’t feel the atmosphere was all that comfortable.

First timer, out of towner to Colt Grill Cottonwood. Frankly, I parked at Merkin Winery, read the Google reviews and then drove away. The views are great but not worth paying higher prices for possible disappointment. I read the Google reviews on Colt and there you have it. Recommendations were not wrong. Smoking bbqs in patio area were like cheese to a mouse. Colt is pleasantly decorated in white and brown cattle-like upholstered chairs and dining tables. There’s no table service. Order at the counter including drinks and wait at your table for your name to pickup your entrees. This process reduces staffing although there are many working to bus tables, clean and cook. My bbq brisket was amazing. I was offered fatty or meaty slices. There’s a serve yourself sauce counter. If you like great bbq, adding sauces is a “no no.” My brisket was tender, flavorful and moist with no added sauce. That was perfection! Near the restroom is a framed newspaper article recognizing the woman owner, and she was in the restaurant with a recognizable expectation posturing that all staff did not dare look meandering. Colt functions efficiently, brisket outstanding and I never buy a restaurant t-shirt. But I did, First time ever! Amazing, and I thanked the owner Brenda Marie for a wonderful experience. Highly Recommended!!!

I’m thankful we didn’t find Colt right away because it would’ve been the only place we would’ve eaten. The patio was packed, so we sat inside at the bar where it was nice & empty. The bartender was like an old friend that you haven’t seen in a while, so you talk a long time to catch up. The food was amazing. The portions were huge. As soon as I saw all of that food, I knew I couldn’t conquer it. I didn’t. Then, foolishly, I ordered a peach cobbler a la mode for dessert. Dumb idea. It was a PLATTER of cobbler and ice cream. My friend ordered the Cowboy Cookie Sundae. 1st of all, the cookie weighed about 5 pounds. Then add 3 pounds of ice cream on top. We had to be rolled out of there. We were completely stuffed. Everything about this place is good and worth a visit! Oh, and the garlic butter fries were the bomb

We all got the ABC burger and the regular fries. So so good! They tasted like homemade burgers, really good quality ingredients. Thick bacon.

Wonderful restaurant. We went for breakfast with 8 people, including a picky teenager, and everyone left full and happy! The service method is a little unusual – you get seated with your menus, then take your order up to the counter. The counter will call your order number and you come get your food. Very nice, friendly staff – we asked one to take our picture (in the most touristy way possible) and he readily obliged (and took good pictures, for what it’s worth!) The food is delicious, large portions, and with some interesting options. I highly recommend the mushroom hash – I’m not a vegetarian at all but I chose it over some meat options and I’m very glad I did.
