I don’t know why we decided to give this place another shot a week or so ago, but it never fails to disappoint. First few times we tried it they didn’t seem to drain the noodles at all and my spaghetti was super watered down, it was disgusting. Tried them again hoping things would be better but got the fettuccine Alfredo this time. Whoever decided to put mushrooms in this is insane, they’re clearly canned and super mushy. Sauce was lumpy and made me gag every bite before I gave up. Also had hardly any shrimp, not worth the price at all. Bread also wasn’t toasted or anything…just plain ol bread. I’ve had better cafeteria food. Employees were also super rude when we came to pickup our food and just ignored us the entire time. Unfortunately won’t be back.

Everything that I used to like about this place has changed. They don’t sell steaks anymore and the food is bland. The garlic house dressing doesn’t taste like garlic anymore. Just no love in the food it seems.

I spoke with a few people who said this was once a good place so my wife and I decided to give it a try. We wish we hadn’t. This place gets two stars only because of our waitress being very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is extremely dated and it looks like a throw back to the early 00’s olive garden. My wife ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and I, the cannelloni. Food came with a salad. Wife went with a house with ranch and I, a Caesar. Mine was good, croutons did taste like fish though. Her salad clearly came from a bag and was wilted. Food came out, and right away I knew it was going to be trash. Her spaghetti, the noodles were dry and clearly just pulled from having been sitting aside in a container. The sauce, was watered down to the point that there was red water that the pasta was resting in. Little to no meat was present in the sauce and to be honest, it was clearly from a can and tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup, super sweet and more of a pinkish orange than red. Two cannelloni is standard and it was plated nice but the same disrespectful “tomato sauce” was what it was bathing in. One look as the store bought great value slice of melted mozzarella cheese on top told me all I needed to know about it, trash. The filling, was put together well, but there was no flavor, no seasoning, just a mouth full of sadness. There is no love or respect in this food. Then there was some dude in a ball cap, old Carhartt jacket and jeans just wondering in and out of the back room. There was a couple seated a little away from us and I heard her ask him if they just wanted to box it up and then go order a pizza from Domino’s. If you need help, I’ll come make a sauce for you, can’t give you the recipe because it’s from the old world, but this was just disrespectful. Dishonor, dishonor on you, dishonor on your olive oil that has gone rancid in the corner, dishonor to every Nonna that is rolling in her peaceful Italian grave. SMH, do better.

Best kept secret in Groves. Real Italian. Food was slow coming out but well worth the wait. This is a slow down and smell the roses kinda restaurant. I would really love it if the owner fixed the piano and had live music.

The food was On Point as usual.

Cassandra facilitated all things food/drink related for me & she was absolutely AMAZING also!!

I had moved away from the area 20 years ago & since relocating back to the area, nice to see that NOTHING has changed, from the quality of food, to the level of service!

Kudos to the Colichia family!

Colichias Italian Village is an ICON of dining excellence in Jefferson County in the City of Groves, Tx.
It has been a dining favorite of ours since we were dating in the early 70’s.
Matriarch Momma Colichia was loved by all not only for her fabulous Italian cooking but for her love of those who dined at the original location in Port Arthur.
After her passing, grandson Scott carried the torch for keeping the restaurant going for those of us who could never get enough of the recipes that Momma passed down to Scott.
AUTHENTIC Italian food of all kinds (like my fav veal parmigiana) delight the pallets of the garlic and Italian seasonings lovers.
The quaint atmosphere in small town America and indescribable delectable Italian dishes have had old (like us) and many new comers visiting Colichias time after time.
We will ALWAYS be coming back. Try it, you’ll be glad you did.

Hubby had the shrimp scampi. Apparently the chef decided half n half belonged in it, yuk. The shrimp were over cooked. I had the shrimp alfredo. It had a bitter after taste. The sauce was absolutely missing the real butter and fresh parm. Was missing the fatty and nutty flavor. And the mushrooms were from a can. And what they called a salad was just chopped lettuce and over ripe tomatoes. Won’t be back anytime soon. This is sad, been patrons since childhood when they were on proctor street in port arthur. Chef needs to cook the original recipes

The chicken in the chicken piccata was charred hard enough to cancel the lemon sauce that all great piccata is known and loved for. The service wasnt terrible but could have been much better. I brought up the burnt chicken to the waitress to which i was offered nothing, no recourse for the ruined meal. At the price point of this restaurant, the experience is definitely not worth the money. I found it to be the most expensive piccata and also the worst. This makes me less likey to try new to me establishments and stick with what i know is good every time. Brunos Italian kitchen has never been come up short on service, food or ambience.
