My father had expressed a desire for salt herring for quite some time, and this establishment came highly recommended. While I typically exercise caution when visiting places primarily frequented by a single demographic, I decided we could simply order takeout. Upon our arrival to pay for an order placed over the phone, I inquired with the cashier about the “Early Bird Specials.” She gestured towards a menu taped down facing her, which I found difficult to view. I then politely asked if there was a menu I could see. She then provided me with a menu and a copy. Although the interaction was a bit odd, the food was enjoyable. The salt herring, cornbread, fried potatoes and grits. Taking off another star because the receipt is not itemized and does not show that card fee that is indeed calculated in your total. You also have to mention senior citizen discount to them because they will not. I didn’t know until after getting home and reading the small print on front of the menu.

Normally I have an excellent experience here, but the last two take outs my grits have been watery and normally if you let it sit, grits will become more firm.

We found this place on accident and it was the best accident ever. I now go here on my days off, I don’t like breakfast but I always want breakfast here. The staff are always so nice, the food is amazing, the portions are great. I 120% recommend trying the food here. The fried apples, home fries, and sausage gravy are always a must!

Traveling to the area with my job, searched for a breakfast restaurant. Found Cold Harbor restaurant. Stopped in for breakfast on April 20th. Walked in and was promptly seated by a friendly Hostess. My server was very friendly. Told her it was my first time there. We discussed the menu for a few minutes. I decided to order the Gravy biscuits with eggs. After ordering the food was served very quickly! Was a large plentiful serving. Everything tasted great! Gravy wasn’t quite as good as mine though . Will definitely visit again next time I am in the area.

We’ve rode past this place a million time & it came by recommendation of someone else.
This diner is great! It gives you country diner feels. I mean sausage gravy, corned beef hash things you won’t find a chain restaurant.
We ordered the salmon cakes, eggs, & shredded hash browns, sausage gravy, pancakes & omelette. The only complaint I had was my hash brown weren’t cooked hard enough for me (but that’s personal preference).
The service was great! I will definitely be revisiting.

Rough, slow but very efficient service with a fine menu and excellent food at a very reasonable price. Reminds me of eating at a hole in the wall in Adele Georgia. Always very busy.
Have to go back at least twice more to sample more of the menu.
Thanks

Old fashioned restaurant with good breakfast food and a lot of it. Menu is huge. Stopped by on a weekday morning after a fasting blood draw, so I was hungry
I went with the country fried steak and gravy, home fries and rye toast. So. Much. Gravy. And more food than I could eat.
The potatoes were crispy.
I found the coffee to be weak for my taste. Friendly staff. No wait for a table.

My food was not good. I ordered the cream chipped beef. Gravy tasted like salt water and there was hardly any meat. The biscuits were good. The hash browns were undercooked, as was the waffle my friend ordered.
