Have neen going there for years!! As usual, the pizza, ( double crust white, and red), are delicious. I hosted a convention 4 years ago. For dinner, we reserved a space. 30+ people, thousand dollar dinner. Worth every cent. People from Kansas, etc never tasted old forge pizza. The pizza, plus regular Italian dinners, WOWED the crowd. Excellent…. STILL.

Awesome food! The prices are reasonable considering the cost of dining in 2026. However you should not come here if you are looking for a fancy dining experience. They only had 2 servers running a whole dining room when I was there. Understandably, the service was rushed but not bad! Also, it was chilly in the restaurant in the middle of December. Another thing to keep in mind if you’re looking for a high level of comfort while eating.

Colarusso’s Café has always been a favorite of ours. When we lived in the area 20 years ago, we went often for both lunch and dinner. It’s a cozy Italian restaurant with a true hometown feel, and everything on the menu is excellent. The pizza has always been our favorite, so on a recent visit back we stopped in for a tray, it was just as good as we remembered! Warm atmosphere, friendly service, and food that never disappoints.

My wife is from Vietnam, and a notoriously picky pizza eater. To her, most pizza is just ehhhh. She had another well known pizza, and that was always her number 1. She tried others, and would always say, “it’s okay, but it’s not…”. Until today. Colarusso’s is now in the top spot, a major honor. And I’m happy, because Colarusso’s is my number 1 too. Everyone has their own taste, but this is far and away the best for me. We’re from out of town, and you can’t get pizza like this in the Philadelphia area, or really anywhere for that matter. The cheese has that stick to the roof of your mouth, but I think the sauce and crust really separate this place. An incredibly tasty sauce, to me the best in the area. The white pizza? My god, it’s as good as it looks. Really can’t say enough good things about the food. The prices are really reasonable, and the service is exceptional. Everyone super friendly, makes you feel like home and part of the family. If we lived here, this would be our Friday night pizza spot without question. We’ll have to settle for the occasion pop-in, but next time we’ll order teo or three trays to go. 10/10 5 stars.

The tomato garlic pizza is delicious. Prefect mix of cheese, garlic, tomato and seasonings ontop of freshly baked pizza dough. The cheese steak has a generous amount of steak (minute steak?) but the winner here is the fresh soft bun.

Chef and owner Mario Colarusso has a stuffed eggplant parmesan on the menu that is off the charts with flavor, texture, and oral experience. I am an eggplant snob and rarely find exquisite eggplant at small town restaurants. But please rest assured that Mario’s eggplant does not disappoint!!! I highly recommend this dish if you are in Avoca, PA.

Oh my God! I don’t know where to start! This place is so weird and terrible! Our waitress was fantastic, until she came to fill our glasses with more water…the pitcher of water had a fly in it, and she didn’t even flinch! We ordered a pizza, who can screw that up? calarussos can! It had the appearance of being pizza, and the illusion of being fresh and hot. Upon first disgusting bite, it was like an old dirty crouton had been enlarged, flatten out and covered with something red to resemble sauce, and guess what? IT WAS COLD! No idea how a restuaraunt could master such mystery! The whole experience was absolute insanity! So gross! So super duper gross!
