Came for restaurant week. Had never been to a speakeasy style restaurant/bar before, very unique. Good happy hour deals.
Overall, I thought the food was very good. I especially liked the Rack of Lamb, Bouillabaisse and the Tuna Crudo. Desserts were solid, although I thought the crust was a bit too sweet on the Creme Brulee. The only thing I didn’t care for was the Brussels sprouts, thought it needed something to balance the acidity of the cheese.
Good, friendly service. The most memorable thing will be the interior design. It seems like they put a great deal of thought and effort into it.

We had an incredible experience at Code Red Speak Ready in Washington, DC! The atmosphere was spot on — great vibes, smooth jazz, and expertly crafted cocktails. The smoked Old Fashioned was absolutely phenomenal.

I had heard of this speakeasy for a few years now but this was my first time actually getting to check it out.
The entrance door is a large steel door with a knocker, a combination lock and a sliding grate in the middle. To gain access, you need to use the knocker and then provide the code word when it is answered. I, however, didn’t know this so I had a great banter with the staff before being allowed in lol!
As soon as you walk in, you feel like you have been transferred back to the prohibition era. The space is intimate and dimly lit with red lighting and decor all around. The seating ranges from velvet couches to other antique furniture. Luckily, because I arrived early enough and didn’t have a reservation I was able to get a seat at the bar.
They have happy hour aka bootlegger hour from 5-7 with both drink and food specials. Tuesdays they also have $1 oysters all day while supplies last. The menu is a presented in newpaper format from th early 1900’s. In addition to the menu it is filled with fun facts from history.
The staff were great! Super friendly and food and drink came out fairly quickly. I usually avoid the AdMo area due to the traffic and awful parking but definitely plan to be back to visit this gem.

First time in DC and this was the first place that was recommended by Chat GPT of places to check out for happy hour. Everything was phenomenal! The establishment is vibey and intimate. The cocktails are unique, and the food is amazing! Truly the best happy hour spot around! Can’t wait to be back!!

Lovely speakeasy with an amazing daily happy hour. Great service, oysters, tuna tartare, Southside and Mary Pickford cocktails, calamari, and the music bring us back to that era. The Latino bartender is cool and excellent. The tall white bartender with the good hair overcharges, but the managing partner kindly corrected the bill afterwards, impressing me a ton in this age of bad service!

Emilio, our waiter, was great! The hostess.. not so much. The place was empty. We had a reservation. Every booth was empty. She sat the couple ahead of us in a booth. We asked for a booth.. no. That was the response. We said we’re only here for 1 drink. She turned, flipped hair nose in the air, no other explanation.
