Portion sizes are very fair and all the dishes I’ve tried match menu photographs – which is often rare to see! My favourites are the bbq ribs, pork spring rolls, mixed pho, vegetable curry and the sharing platters.
After chatting with multiple lovely staff members, I have learned that all desserts are made fresh daily, as is the bread and many sauces and juices. You can very much tell due to the quality of all products!
The drinks selection is also great, with unique cocktails and cafe drinks. I have seen a comment or two regarding ice in drinks but that is what’s to be expected with iced drinks…?
10/10 establishment which I recommend everyone to try when in Nottingham
First time having pho and I enjoyed it very much, I tried the bbq lemon grass chicken and it was also a delight and the tofu spring rolls were also absolutely delicious.
Where I was first let down was the drinks, which were great. However, I thought the ratio of ice to the actual drink itself was too high and I found myself with a cup full of ice within 3 sips (for the drinks such as the Apple mint cooler and thai milk tea) I was expecting more for the actual price itself (£6-7 per drink). Overpriced . I was so thirsty but didn’t want to spend more money to buy more drinks.
I don’t know what I was expecting but the desserts were okay despite that I don’t really enjoy desserts that much. My favourite was the matcha brownie and ice cream. The Japanese deco roll cake was a bit too eggy and fruity for me and the halo hala (£11-12 and OVERPRICED) was too sweet and absolutely full of ice underneath to give it an appearance of more volume, and the ice cream on top melted within minutes and the crunchy stuff they put on top which resembled cereal was a bit off putting and gave it a weird texture but the dessert itself was okay for the first 5 minutes then I just abandoned it since it got messy fast.
In summary, it was a new experience and I had fun. I might come again to try more stuff. Come here if your wallet is stacked with money because you’re gonna need it since they charge you 10% service fee which is optional according to them but they secretly add it to the receipt without your consent and don’t tell you about it verbally or ask you if you would like to have it, they add it regardless….
The house drinks selection is equally impressive—choosing a passion fruit cooler added a sweet and tangy twist to complement the meal. The restaurant itself is a buzzing, vibrant place with unique decor and plenty of atmosphere, while the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. Even the facilities stood out, with toilets that were very clean and well presented. Coco Tang deserves high praise for both its culinary quality and its warm, welcoming environment.
Overall amazing place wish it was my local.
Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The salt and pepper squid was very good, but everything else was overly sweet and quite bland, which became sickening very quickly. A shame, as the setting and service set expectations much higher.
Instead, it arrived in a dense, pale, doughy white baguette that tasted like a standard supermarket loaf. Absolutely no crunch, no lightness, completely wrong for a Bánh Mì. Anyone who has had a real one will immediately know this isn’t it. The bread alone ruins the sandwich.
I came with my girlfriend and we were both genuinely disappointed. She didn’t want to make a fuss at the time, but we both left feeling misled and annoyed, especially given the price.
Charging £12.50–£13 for this feels unjustifiable and, frankly, misleading. The menu photos and descriptions set a clear expectation of authenticity that simply isn’t delivered. At this price point, customers expect what’s being advertised — not a watered-down version made with supermarket bread.
If this is how the Bánh Mì is going to be made, it needs to be advertised honestly. Until then, I’d strongly discourage anyone from ordering it, as it’s poor value and not an authentic representation of the dish.
Very disappointing experience.
Today I visited this restaurant and ordered a bowl of pho, pork ribs, and fried squid.
Unfortunately, the dish I was most looking forward to — the pho — turned out to be the worst. The broth was overly salty and had a slight MSG taste. The rice noodles were quite starchy, and the beef was extremely tough.☹️ Compared to the pho I had in Hoi An, Vietnam just a month ago, and the pho I had in France half a month ago, the difference was honestly huge.
To be fair, the other two dishes were decent.
The service and the restaurant environment were both nice, but I felt the portion sizes were rather small, and the prices were higher than I expected.☹️ Overall, I find that the food not as good as other Vietnamese restaurants nearbyVietnamese restaurants in the same area.
I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this restaurant.
