My boyfriend & I decided to try this place while visiting Arizona, and it was phenomenal! Definitely the best meal we had while in town. The service was perfect, they had great knowledge of their menu & were very kind. The ceviche appetizer was SO GOOD. We sat outdoors & it was very comfortable & surrounded by pretty plants. If we ever come back to Arizona, we will definitely want to visit here again!

Some of the best Mexican food we’ve had in AZ! We started with the watermelon ceviche – refreshing and delicious (would’ve liked the pieces a little smaller, but not a big deal). The short rib was incredibly tender, and the pork was flavorful. We tried both the red and white sangria and they were tasty too. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely coming back!

Our first impression was not the greatest. I may have to give them another shot, maybe our experience was a one off. Service was if they were under staffed even though they had lots of employees working. Server had to be tracked down because he would disappear for very long periods of time without checking in on us. Took 30 min to get our first round of drinks, asked for 2nd round midway through so they would arrive by the time we finished the first round but they never came. Our food took almost an hour to arrive. Food had a tasty flavor but dishes were cold upon arrival. Since it had already been close to an hour for our food to arrive, I didnt care to send it back and wait another hour to get a fresh and warm plate. We were seated next to the kitchen area, would not recommend if you get hot easily as that area tends to be warmer due to proximity to kitchen. Liked the music and overall lay out. Just disappointed with service, turn around time for drinks & temperature of food. Had to cancel other plans we had for after dinner due to how long this dining experience took.

We’re visiting Phoenix from LA, and as people who take Mexican food very seriously, I was skeptical of how hyped the reviews were. Mexican food is the best food, so when people say something is “the best ever,” I usually don’t believe it. The guacamole is not the best I’ve ever had, but it is very good.

The food is in the style of Chihuahua, which was a nice change from what we’re used to. They cook with mesquite, so when you walk in it smells incredible. That smoky aroma sets the tone immediately.

We ordered a corn whisky cocktail that sounded better than it tasted, and a jamaica lemonade that was a little too sweet for us. Funny enough, blending the two actually balanced them out perfectly. The corn was great, the fish was solid, and the steak tacos were just okay.

The most impressive part of the experience was the waitstaff. Three different servers helped us and every single recommendation they described sounded so good that we just trusted them and ordered it. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. The music playlist was also excellent and added to the fun atmosphere.

Overall, we really enjoyed it. We spent about $150 for two appetizers, two entrees, and two drinks, and left happy. I wouldn’t call it life-changing, but it’s a really good spot with fantastic service and a great vibe.

I finally decided to give this restaurant a try after being a bit hesitant because of some mixed reviews and the pricing. I’m glad I did—everything exceeded expectations. The short rib tacos were outstanding, and the rice and beans were flavorful and perfectly done.

Overall, great food, great drinks, and great service. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Cocina Chiwas has quickly made it’s mark as one of my favorite spots in Tempe. With an intimate setting and stellar service, it’s a hard place not to love! I’ve dined in twice now, both times we made a reservation around 5pm when it was less busy and had no wait.

My first visit was for a leadership dinner at work. The four of us shared the Ribeye Aguachile, and my boss had the bartender’s choice cocktail and loved it. I was sick and was recommended the non alcoholic, warm Spiced Apple Cider, and it was wonderful. The aguachile was both flavorful and tender. We all raved about it to our server and she proceeded to recommend the special ribeye tacos. We ordered 2 each and all devoured them! Again, so flavorful and tender.

I couldn’t stop thinking about this place and took my partner there last night! This time, I was able to enjoy both their Red and White Sangria, and my partner got a Spicy House Margarita (Chiwarita, I believe it was named). They do not lie when they say these drinks are boozy! I of course had to get the Ribeye Aguachile again it was just as I remembered. We also split the Birria Quesadilla and it was gone in maybe 5 mins. We opted out of dessert but the Mexican hot chocolate cake our server described sounded glorious.

I will have to get everyone’s names the next time I am here. All the employees are so knowledgeable about the menu and I really enjoy the open concept kitchen. This place is absolutely worth the extra $$ to go somewhere nice. Do yourselves a favor and head to Cocina Chiwas for your next night out!

No sure how to start. The guac was maybe the best I have ever had which kind of sums up the entire experience. From the host John being amazing the moment we walked in to Marie our server who was so helpful helping us pick what to order. They have a lot of my favorite things. Unfortunately the relleno is seasonal which is my favorite thing. But at least that gives me a good reason to go back. My favorite is the salsa that comes with the. Quesadillas which was also amazing. This place is pricy but everything is fresh and premium quality. Taste like they do everything from scratch. Even the water tasted good. Clearly the bring you filtered water. And for my birthday they brought some amazing ice cream. All I can say is thank you for such a wonderful birthday meal. Almost made skipping Disney worth it.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in the valley. Great value for the money, chill but upscale atmosphere, plenty of gluten free options. This is our go to date night spot.
